Jeremy Corbyn's Labour

http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-38568116

JC argues for a maximum earnings limit.Bad news for Premershite players.

Just curious as to why would you post up a link to a story that shows your beloved leader as a complete left field loony tune? Whilst a wage cap is a nice idea in a Utopian world back in reality it's one that would and could never work, and he knows it. Why does he continue to make gaffs like this?

If you open your window, keep really, really quiet and listen very carefully you can actually hear the sound of a penny dropping at Labour HQ.

I particularly like this paragraph.....

In a speech later, the party leader will argue the UK "can be better off" after leaving the EU and will insist that Labour is not "wedded" to the continued free movement of EU citizens in the UK as a "matter of principle", supporting "fair and reasonably managed migration"

And there you have it folks. From the horses mouth. And that last part. Isn't that exactly what all us rabid, fascist and racist Right Wingers on here have been advocating all along? A 'fair and reasonably managed migration' system?

BArna I know you think you know everything but you might just like to go on to the Scotsman website and see what some Scots think about Sturgeon. THey are apoplectic about her performance and Kenny McAskil a former Justice minister and SNP has some interesting views. however the real story is that the Scots economy is one of tthe worst performing in the UK and back to levels 7 years ago. QUite breathtaking incompetence by the SNP. I know you like your links its scotsman.com

This one?

Definitely. This would have to be a "global" arrangement, not localized to one country.

It's a nice idea and one I agree with. It's "pie in the sky" though and if enforced would massively stifle our growth and economy in the long run. We want to be attracting business and talent, not driving it to other countries.

Bad Jeremy!

I don't. Companies are still going to make profit, they just won't be able to reward their staff for helping them do so.

it's not really from the horses mouth though as the speech hasn't been made yet so you can't see how the snippets that we can read are linked. I have read very different interpretations of the bits that are available now. From what I can tell at the moment he sees access to the free market as No 1 aim and as that comes with free movement he would be looking to tighten employment laws to tackle exploitation and do things like banning advertising UK jobs abroad that can be filled here. It's not that dramatic a change in stance I don't think.

Well, naughty BBC for putting it in quotation marks then. I would have thought for them to make a direct quote like that they know exactly what's going to be said and have printed a portion of it. Speeches by all parties get purposely leaked to the main media outlets prior to them being made. This being a case in point. Just because he hasn't actually said it 'live' doesn't mean we cannot take it as accurate.

First things first JC. If you made the people earning more than £200k per year actually pay the right amount of tax that would be a start. Would help with a wage cap if you said the more you earn the closer we will look at your tax affairs.

Then those overpaid NHS mangers etc could not trot out the same old excuse that that's what they would get in the private sector.

Yes we might lose some wonderful overseas talent but I've always thought English football would still survive without the likes of Balotelli, Adebayor and even those lovely foreign owners like the Italians at Orient.

Still don't see £50m mentioned. I saw £200,000 though...but that he isn't wedded to an amount.

Either way, my view is that the workers create the profit, and should therefore share in it. Not allowing bosses to pay their staff more than an certain amount means that the bosses of those companies will just make more money at their workers' expense.

Many bosses like Mike Ashley and definitely Phillip Green don't like paying the workers full stop. Or even stealing their pension.

It's all right folks.Just saw Labour's Shadow minister for Trade and Industry on the Daily Politics clarifying, (though he hadn't had a chance to talk with JC in advance about today's BBC interview with Laura Kuenssberg), that the great leader was talking about limits on public sector pay only.:winking:

He has been saying that all along so nothing new. That's why he will resign under pressure form his own MP's before the next GE

It's not new, granted. But it is certainly a clarification, on what was supposed to be the start of a rebooting campaign on his image, policies etc, today.I certainly agree he'll be under pressure from Labour MP's to change this stance (particularly those in the North) but doubt he'll resign before the next G/E.
