I said a while ago (I know: I'm a legend in my own household/mind) that we could do with a "Andy Ansah" type striker.

You just looked at Ajose and thought 'he's like Ansah', so you're now claiming some tactical master stroke aren't you? :tease: Go on, admit it!

Not that we see it much, but a 4-3-3 formation, with Cox, Ajose & Fortune wouldn't be too bad. Fortune is good at holding up play. Yes, Ranger is better, but looks like we've seen the last of him unfortunately.

5-2-3. Would be crazy but fun!

Smith, Demetriou, Thompson, Ferdinand, Inniss, Coker, Timlin, Wordsworth, Cox, Fortune, Ajose

5-4 every game.

We are after Dominic Samuel from Reading according to CP.
A little concerning the number of targets we are publicly stating we are interested in yet nothing ever materialises.

7 goals in 25 games on loan at Gills last season and 6 in 13 at Coventry the year before, scored 2 in 9 in the Championship this season.

The ones we name are normally the ones we don't sign. I don't remember Cox being named before he was actually signed.

Note the prerequisite PB transfer related quote in that report;

Southend boss Phil Brown said: "Three or four clubs in our league are also interested and so are two or three in the Championship but we’ll be doing all we can to bring him to Southend."

The memory of Ranger seems to be fading... all this transfer talk must be predicting another announcement soon?

Two loans were cut short due to bad injuries. One on his knee that required an operation and another one fracturing his ankle. Not a great injury record for a 22 year old. Let's hope that's behind him now.

Phil likes to show people that he is after ambitious targets, then when he doesn't get them, the finger of blame is pointed elsewhere. It's a canny tactic he's been using for years and it has likely prised more investment in the team from Ron than the chairman probably intended.

At this rate we'll have more crocs than a family on a beach holiday!

Also, after the last window when we were asking ourselves where these early signings were, I'm sure Phil wants to show supporters he is trying...

Antoni Sarcevic was unattached and has signed for Plymouth. At the beginning of the season there were many people would've liked him at the Hall.

Anyone reckon we'll announce a new signing and terminate Rangers deal on the same day??

I'm guessing not.

However, despite the Ranger outcome not being released to the press or us general public, i reckon the club already know the outcome if the FA hearing was on Tuesday. Their was a statement mentioning that the outcome will be released before the weekend, so i'm sure SUFC will be working on a possible replacement since Tuesday if it was a case that Ranger is "struck off" so to speak.
Bearing in mind tomorrow is Friday, even if someone signed today, I doubt he would be rushed into the squad for Saturdays clash against Fleetwood (pending medicals etc).

Chances are, if we did sign anyone at all, it would be announced after the game, my guess is perhaps on Monday or on deadline day itself.

I just hope we don't panic buy and end up with some over paid deadwood.
