Lucas Piazon has extended his deal with Fulham on loan from Chelsea. Not sure if they play him as a striker or winger but will move Woodrow and Smith down the pecking order if used as a striker.

Woodrow would do for me. He clearly has ability or he wouldn't have played 54 games for Fulham. He is older and wiser now and quite probably a much better player.

Your on the zone, your not allowed to write anything logical or well reasoned.
I agree with you. Some people only base their opinion on what they saw ages ago when said player was raw and young. If those people had seen him play for Fulham, they'd see he has improved hugely and has a lot of Championship experience now. Just because a new manager has gone in there and would prefer a different approach, doesn't make Woodrow a bad player.

I'm really hoping it is Smith. I've always thought he was a really decent player and so difficult to handle for defenders. Seems a Phil Brown signing.

That said, had we not had Woodrow here previously and now were being linked with an England U21 striker with 50+ games at Fulham under his belt already I think most of us would want him. If it is him then I'd hope he'd be given a fresh chance by everyone and is judged as the player he is now and not the player he was when he was 18.

Smith seems a more natural fit though. Fingers crossed.

But obviously not malnourished. :winking:

You would think he'd improved and he may have done, but a friend of mine who is a Fulham season ticket holder has just told me that Woodrow is lightweight, lacks pace and is a poor finisher. So, pretty much the same as when he was here before.

Add to the fact he played a lot of games for them last season and they done terrible.

A lot depends on the outcome with Nile- if he stays given we have MAF then probably a Woodrow makes sense (more of a Cox type player without the goals? Although they may start to flow in L1?

The same club that want rid of Smith yet you think he would be a fantastic signing :whistling:

Yep I do.

Been down the Woodrow route which was pretty tame....Smith will win aerial balls...can score goals....all plus points.

Woody rarely scores ,doesn't put himself about and cannot finish...cannot see how he would improve the attack here.

Like the idea of a Smith type player.

Not least because we lack a bit of height from set-pieces at both ends of the pitch. We certainly could do with converting more chances from set-pieces, as we have good delivery from Wordy, these days.

As 'Rigsby' mentioned on the 'match report' thread, Calvin Andrew was a real help, defensively, for Rochdale on Saturday from our set-pieces. Smith is of a similar mould.

I really hope we spend money on a signing! Matt Smith, with 6 months left on his contract, could we potentially nab for £100k or less? Omar Bogle of Grimsby could be worth a look, 18 goals this season and only 24...

I didn't know he was out of contract at the end of the season!
