Nooooooooo! Don't sign Cassidy. There's footballers out with a good engine who actually score goals. And please, a replacement for Corr. As I've said before, PB is great at sorting defence but below average in attack. Get an attack minded coach in for next season and some decent strikers for gawd sake. Strikers who are exciting to watch on the ball, who will bring in the crowds too. I can't take another season of 'yawn yawn' Corr, and 'some day I'll score a goal' Cassidy.

'Yawn Yawn Corr' has scored 14 league goals for us this season, only 6 players in the league got more than him.

Our forwards will never score lots of the goals we way we set up. My preference if PB sticks with the defend as a team notion is to replace our midfield with more prolific scorers and make sure that the forwards do their jobs in that system which is to work hard, hold ball up and get on end of crosses. Cassidy ticks some of those boxes but I want to see likes of Deegan Leonard and Atkinson score more goals. We have formula then for success. We saw on Saturday when we gamble in the current set up we just look pathetic at the back. Same as at Stevenage and Wycombe away when we went all guns blazing. We got tore apart

I actually think it was a big mistake not starting him against Morecambe but I know he wasn't fully fit. He works so hard for the team but ultimately he needs to score goals which he hasn't done but I do like him and maybe offer him a 6 month contract or something like that.

I absolutely agree with the idea of a short term contract.

Whilst I haven't seen him play and understand that he works hard and puts a decent shift in, a striker who doesn't score goals is probably not the answer to our problems.

His record elsewhere is not prolific either, so the hope that once the first goal goes in the rest will follow appears to be optimistic, but then again I remember a certain Gary Jones back in the 90s who was similar, and had a purple patch after the first goal went in.

I am more worried that the timing of the announcement from Wolves is not the best for us as his mind may naturally be elsewhere, unless this spurs him on realising that he is in the shop window.

I thought attack attack attack would mean we would score more than the opposition and that was that?

I do think we need to look at our midfield though. Timlin, Atkinson and Deegan are never going to score or even create many, they arent that sort of player and we do need that industry they bring to the team, but we also need players who do create chances or put them away. The only midfielder who delivers is Worrall. Payne grabs goals, but he is too often a passenger in games and still no one knows how to fit him in the side. As it is we only really have one creative player in the side, and even with two strikers you need creativity.

Just a shame Hurst isnt the player he was a year ago, with an inform Hurst and Worrall we would be far more creative.

Yawn yawn's pass to Leonard was the one bit of class in the Morecambe match.

I despair ,some of you want a forward who cannot score for toffee.last 80 appearances 5 goals,no thanks.

Don't get me wrong - Barry's a decent enough striker but the thought of another season watching Barry - not for me. I feel Corr and Southend United are like a stale marriage that's run its course. He and us would be better off finding new partners to put the fizz back into those relationships. And Cassidy wouldn't even be able to score on his wedding night. Wholesale clear out of the strikers please.

How about in the same role he played on Saturday, second striker. Agree he has at times looked a passenger, easily muscled off the ball in midfield. With more space and freedom up front I believe he and the team would have more goals in them.

Jack has played better away from home. At Morecambe he produced more end result than Pigott or Cassidy have in their last four games. Shame all the zone sheep have blamed his selection on our poor defending. Had Hurst taken his easy chance at 2-1 I very much doubt the need for the usual 451 scapegoating.

For a big lad Pigott wins nothing in the air. lots of 'fresh air flicks' which don't bring Corr, Cassidy or anyone else in the picture. Stevenage are good in the air at the back so maybe pumping high balls up to two big lads will not be the answer.

The way you make up stats and pick and choose when to use/ignore certain facts so that they back up your opinion is priceless.

The goals stat is simply not true- unless of course you are correct and all of the credited websites are all wrong- please give a link to these numbers or admit you are wrong (again)

He also played for a wolves side and Tranmere side that got relegated and therefore clearly were not very good . When your hero Williams went out on loan you blasted the loan as he would have no chance to score because he was playing in a crap team. Noticeable you fail to have the same thought on jake as it doesn't back up your view.

He was playing that position before Pigott and Cassidy joined. People see Payne in the side and assume its 451 but he always played right up with Corr.

That is his position, in the "hole", its just whether he can play there and consistently deliver, for me at the moment he just has far too many games that pass him by, but he is still very young.

Thing is if you do play him up there then Corr is hamstrung as he has to do all of the physical work, and thats where Cassidy and Pigott have an advantage as they can bear some of the load and give Corr (or whoever is up front) more freedom to get in the box.

Indeed, his stats for us are rubbish, but even with his games for us he has scored 21 goals in 86 starts, which is a good return for someone his age.

Are you looking at the right player?

He scored 11 at Tranmere, so how has he only scored 5?

12 (5) 0
15 (1) 3
19 (0) 1
26 (0) 11

72 starts, 15 goals.

He also scored 5 in 7 the year before to bring it up to 20 goals in 79 starts. Even if you want to included subs appearances his stats are decent.

EDIT: ah its the way soccerbase lists his record. if you look at his individual games he didnt score many last season for wolves, but 13 of those 20 games were as a sub. Either way, if you judge him on his starts, which is the only fair way you can he has still scored 20 in 86 starts...

Yes but a more mobile player may have done better. Our team is a bit one dimensional with Corr particularly.
It is about opinions of course, but the only thing defenders really fear is pace even if from raw youngsters. I think we did ok when Corr missed games this season.

Ok we will use starts only

Since November 2012

67 starts with 6 goals..average of a goal every 11 games.

he made 17 appearances for us this season (5 as sub) without scoring which obviously not great for a striker especially as our lack of goals costs us top 3 this year. I know people say is all he needs is a goal but how long do you give it?

Funny how you decided to start your stats in November 2012, that way you can ignore the other 10 goals he scored that season.

Yet again you are using selective stats. He has started 86 games and scored 20 goals, a rate of almost 1 in 4. Just ignoring the 16 he scored in 34 games for Tranmere doesnt make your argument any stronger.

His record for us is poor, but his record prior to coming to us was decent.
