With all due respect, you don't have to listen to the media.

But it IS pretty impossible to avoid it.

Even The Guardian front page and BBC site has been devoting a fair few inches to it. And if you live anywhere in London, then you'll find it impossible to escape the 3 billion copies of the London Sh-ite thrust in your paper by your fellow commuters / those rather forceful folk paid to distribute them.

I know one headline the other night read "Goody expects to meet PM this week", and I never even pick up the thing. A situation engineered, I'm presuming, to entirely force Brown into another uncomfortable photoshoot and get Goody another headline story.

On another note, whilst I know cervical cancer isn't a pleasant thing, its funded and publicised far more heavily than a lot of male forms of the disease. I think it's good that its thrown into question the sense in not being able to get tested for it until you're in your twenties, but I guarantee that within days of her death, there will be 3 or 4 "Goody Trusts" collecting for research into the disease and support care.

Which is all very well, but cancer research gets a huge amount of money as it is due to the sheer volume of people it affects. Would it not make more sense to NOT keep starting up new secondary funds everytime an individual dies and just collate the pot into one decent lump sum, giving the scientists a better chance of fighting the problem?

With regard to the second premise, my general understanding on the story comes from glimpses of headlines of papers when Im getting petrol, or headlines on the home page when I log on to the 'net. That's what Im getting at, the media, or Max Clifford, are trying to ram it down peoples throats and it would be very difficult to avoid all idea of what is going on.

With regard to the first premise....well...sadly there are stupid people about ;)

OK, on both counts, you could argue that because your general understanding has only been glimpses you don't have the full picture.

But then again, I like the first premise better. I'm still working on my proposal for a 10% stupidity tax.

Why don't they just go the whole hog and give her a State Funeral?

I have singularly failed to see how this low life has got herself such a massive media following. It just shows the depth our society has dropped to when this "nobody" is front page news day in, day out. Week in, week out. Even before she went up the path to death's door, her every move, every stupid outburst, every everything was rammed down our throats.

And hanger-on celebs who crave some publicity will no doubt be there, showing their "grief" at someone who they probably never met and who certainly never had one iota of talent.

It's a sad world really, Goody should have taken a leaf from Wendy Richard's book, and died with dignity. But I suppose Goody sold her dignity the moment she opened her mouth when she arrived in Big Brother.

The only good to come from any of this is to raise the plight of cervical cancer in young women, but I doubt very much she had this in her "mind" when she sold her last few remaining months to the highest bidder.

How long before the Daily Mail or Express clamour for her to be made a Saint. St Jade of the Terminally Stupid.......

That's a bit sanctimonious and preaching. She's come from nothing and earned her way through life, unlike a lot of immigrants, or lefty whingers who like staying in and sitting on the dole.

Fact is, it makes people feel good about themselves to belittle someone who they think is representative of something they despise. The truth is that many people only see themselves when looking at others.

In a classless and God-less society, celebrity in whatever form fills the vacuum. If celebrity doesn't equal talent, that's another topic for another day.

Personally, media reflects popular opinion - otherwise people wouldn't buy into it. You can as I've already pointed out, ignore the clamouring. She is still a human being, and as a Proto-socialist yourself you should really see the hypocrisy in what you're going on about.

She's not stupid. She's been advised badly.

But put me in the same situation and I'd do whatever it takes to make sure my kids/family are financially secure. If that means being filmed butt-naked in a Colchester pub, I'd do it.

More likely to get red for using the term "shed load", a dreadful and ultimately meaningless term coined from misheard traffic announcements.

On the subject of Jade, I would merely say that if you had had her start in life, you would have considered yourself to have done well to have achieved as much as she has. I do wish that you would stop using such perjorative terms about people - communism will never work as long as communists are so judgemental about people instead of being judgemental about the circumstances that this society enforces on them.

"Earned her way" don't make laugh. Gets on BB and is very stupid is hardly the bedrock nor the example we should be setting those who are starting their way through life. In fact she epitomises a lot of what is wrong with our society, which is full of people who think they can get something from nothing. And that is one reason why society fails.

The media does not reflect popular opinion, that is niave in the extreme. The media sets popular opinion. Remember David Beckham, darling one day, kicks an Argie the next and there are effigies of him being hung in East London. An obivous example of how the media form public thinking.

If the media had seen her, and her kind, for what they are, I reckon society would be a better, and certainly, more intelligent place.
