A Bit of Fun Is Ron Leaving/Selling?

: The Club currently benefits from a short term lease at Roots Hall and which has been renewed at least twice. The rent was de-capped to represent 10% of the initial investment at the time i.e. £4m – to prevent an almost certain administration – providing for an annual rent of £400,000. As you will know the Club has not paid one penny in rent in respect of Roots Hall and in very recent years I have written off some £2.8m in rent arrears so as to improve the Club’s balance sheet. Furthermore it is not my intention to charge the Club any rent while it remains here at Roots Hall.
Interesting.

In the event of SUFC Ltd entering any form of Insolvency, will the football team trading under the name of Southend United be given first refusal to continue use and occupation under identical terms as SUFC Ltd under the proposed Lease or Trust Deed so that perpetual occupation by any re-incarnation of Southend United only be first assured ?

...However I am not a prophet; I cannot predict what the ultimate future may hold save I am creating a framework to secure the Club’s future and tenure. In reality very few clubs go out of business and if there were future financial problems for the Club I would suggest the Club and its new home – which we are in the throes of creating – will be a very attractive investment to any would-be buyer.

Ian had a crystal ball!

He'd have been mad to write it off, surely the balance would have allowed him to be majority voter in accepting his own 10p in the £ bid through should the club go into administration?

He has written it off of his own books, but the amount officially still remains owing to him. I would imagine that if we were to go into administration that it would be counted as part of the debt and then he would definately be the majority creditor and pretty much push through any offer he wants (much as Ken Bates did with Leeds)

Just thinking aloud here but if there are some legs to this rumour of a takeover i wonder if Gary Lockett will be part of the consortium, he's Southend United through and through is quite well off. Might be a reason to why he left the board.

Maybe he saw this **** storm brewing and decided to get out of the way?

Just heard Ronaldinho talking on Essex FM about his imminent transfer here. He was speaking outside Peter Pans Playground having just been round the dodgems with Geff King.

i've not heard anything about this, can anyone confirm where and when this was (allegedly) on the radio?

Exactly what I want to know.

Has anyone actually heard this reported story on BBC Essex, with their own ears?...

Nope. I was listening this afternoon up to Tilly's interview and apart from the odd oblique reference to our potential plight there was nothing about this reported story. Whether it was broadcast and subsequently pulled is your guess is as good as mine.

I was as well and heard jack ****.

That tells me all I need to know about this "rumour"

I heard it was Eddie Stobart buying Southend United. ;)

no, i can categorically deny that, i played wii bowling with him last night and he said that he was investing all his money in building a spaceship to transport heavy goods to the moon.

Seriously. An unamed Arab tycoon, taking us over. Wiping out around £6m-7m+ of debt. Financing a £50m+ stadium project and giving Tilly £3m+ to spend on players alone, in January.

Read that over and over. It will not happen.

That is all.

Would be nice though

I don't know but maybe it would be of some interest to a Dhabi person with the planning we have in-line with the ground and FF, maybe it is a good opportunity to make some money.I would not write this rumour off so quickly as others.

Will we have to change names to Dhabi County?
