Post-Match Thread and Ratings Huddersfield Town 2-1 Southend United

Accept other people on the Board (eg the Consortium)who are willing to invest in the club,or sell out to them.Or alternatively(as I suggested before)spend some of the money earmarked for FF investment on players now.

Accepting people onto the board with money? Who are these people and where did you find them? Are there more of them? Wake Up, people wouldn't provide investment just for a place on the board... People want considerable stake in the club, a share of any profit and other responsibilities. Ron Martin is simply unwilling to give that kind of stake away and that makes him no different from any other chairman in the football league. No doubt some of you will criticise him for this, but you'd do exactly the same in his position.

Spend some of the money earmarked for Fossett's Farm? Spending a loan on something else other than what you've applied for it could be distinguished as fraud and would leave us in a perillous situation.

The sheer prospect of spending money set aside for the relocation is madness.

We have had similar crowds in the past and managed to sign players. Where has the money gone ? :net:

Oh. I don't know. Possibly spent on doing what is necessary to get the stadium project of the ground? When the relocation was banded around did people seriously think it wouldn't affect what the club spent on players? Why do you reckon Arsenal haven't spent big despite recording record profits since their move to the Emirates? Because the repayments for the development are huge.

They actually have a new stadium to play in --- we haven't. Are you saying we won't have large repayments to make if and when we are in FF, are all profits going to club ? Please enlighten me Ron.

Saw the highlights earlier.. Another nice assist by Franno! Tidy finish by Spencer too.

Snap.Schoolboy defending really cost us for both goals conceeded. We really can't afford to wait for M'voto to get fit,let alone match fit.
As Tilly said in an ideal world we'd get someone in to cover for him.Surely another loan signing wouldn't break the bank?
Also can someone explain to me why Betsy and Revell had their contracts cancelled but Sankofa hasn't?
Surely Chelmsford or some other non-league outfit would take him off our hands?

Where did I say this? I was merely suggesting that the costs attributed to a new stadium are astronomical in comparison to regular spending patterns, so it will obviously impact on the amount allocated for transfers.

Some people need to stop living in fantasy land and realise that we cannot afford to splash out on new players, whether we wanted to or not. If you want vast overspending and living far beyond the means of a football club, go support Portsmouth. I can assure you, they're having a lot less fun than we are.

Thank you Ron.

I was asking a question or two, please supply the answers.

This was of course precisely the sort of thing that Vic Jobson used to come out with back in his day. Many people took him at his word and only went to away matches.I understand from a close reading of the SZ boards that this is beginning to happen again. Is this really what you want for our club?

Didnt go yesterday but the defending looks shocking, hardly surprising when frankly Sankofa and Malone are 2 of the poorest defenders Ive seen in a blue shirt. Switching people from centre back to right back or vice versa, its just rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic. I cant see us winning any games with the current defence, another sad indictment of the neglect of this area in the transfer market. Yesterday we had 3 strikers on the bench but no centre back. We are having to score 2 or 3 goals to win games, and the midfield are having to sit too deep. Moose, Laurent, Grant all badly out of form and only in the team as we have zero other options. Judging by Tillys post match comments the hope of any permanent signings is zero. Persoanlly I think Barney will hang around till the summer and do enough to keep us up but I dont see much of a rosey future next season with so many players out of contract in the summer, losing our best striker and more worries with the HMRC.

Just seen the highlights.

Good pace and strength, with a top drawer finish from Spencer to go with it. Going on his past, he's clearly got tonnes of potential, but for whatever reason he hasn't carried that on as he's grown up. He needs some confidence shown in him and an arm round his shoulder. Can Tilson do that? Going on his past with strikers, more so young strikers who need this treatment, it's doubtful but lets hope he can change this with Spencer.

As usual dreadful defending and some debatable tracking from midfield has let us down. For the first, same old Barrett has got too tight and destroyed the shape of the backline, Malone has then been caught and then when we finally calm it down, for some reason nobody decided to mark Rhodes at the back stick. Poor. The second is our usual schoolboy defending from set pieces. Nothing changes there.

Without a change to the central midfield and without another centre half brought in whilst we wait for M'Voto, it's going to be the same old struggle for the near future.

And more comments from Huddersfield:

To Be fair ppb for the first 15 mins we(town) played some good stuff, then the rest of the game we were quite bad.
I was impressed with your number 12, he ripped us to bits at times.

We were pinching ourselves at 2-0 up - thought you had plenty possesion but ultimately you didn't really threaten our goal much and by the end we had the better chances. Thought Banard looked classy earley on but then drifted out of the game. Tall guy on the right wing had our left back beaten every time and you number 8 ran the midfield.

We are far too hard on ourselves!

OBL its a lot easier to be nice to an opposition when youve beaten them. How many times have we heard this after a game. "Didnt threaten the goal" well you wont win matches that way. I admire you for going to the away games, fans like you deserve better than the efforts on (and off) the pitch.

You might soon be joining another forum. I ask questions that you won't answer so don't take that attitude with me.

You would never have the heart to ban a fellow porn loving huskier gentleman like me though :)
