OK you disagree with me which is great. We are poor and we have been poor but lets see what time with the new signings gives us. If its equally as bad then for sure he must go.

Nice use of the Queens English though !

I apologise for my language. It was late and I was frustrated. But by your own admission, we are poor and have been for sometime, including with the new players in the side. The question has been if PB end is near, how long do we give him. Not sure there is any point in carrying on with him, 2 wins in 25 games is not a good statistic. If I was RM I would be very careful to back a manager any further at this stage with that record. Some would argue that he can't change things without improving the squad, I get that to a point, but I believe the problem is more to do with PB than it is the quality of players we have, even if they are a fraction low in numbers

I give him until the end of September. See what the rest of the transfer window brings and then see how results go in September. Seems like a lot of our fans are on his back already after two games of the season - both against one of the better sides in the division.

One thing to bear in mind is this seasons push from RM for the £8k average attendances.

This is probably the most important thing for Ron above anything else. If we continue to be dreadful the first thing to suffer will be the attendances ergo the finances. RM has proved himself to be very loyal to his managers and not make knee jerk decisons but I think he will be inclined to act sooner rather than later this season. Let's face it a new change of manager and an injection of fresh ideas will likely lead to more bums on seats. This is what it boils down to at the end of the day and IMO be the deciding factor in removing PB.

12th September 2000 - Southend 1 Kidderminster 1 -attendance 2403

Alan Little was sacked 2 weeks later, despite not losing in between and us being 10th in the table.

Keep an eye on the attendance for Bristol Rovers and Fleetwood.

Personally I think we are stuck with him until about February.

The mistakes he makes are just too basic for my liking. Letting Deegan go was a huge error without having a suitable replacement sorted, we are so lightweight in midfield I bet opposition managers are looking forward to playing us. Attendances will drop off dramatically, Ron has to act now, enough is enough.

He was out of contract and had a much better offer from Shrewsbury. How could we have stopped him. No one has a crystal ball and can predict which position our injuries will come.

Are you suggesting that if fit Wordsworth would provide what Deegan did?:stunned:

As I said in a previous thread I would give him six games. Two have gone and gone badly. My main concern is for his replacement. Coming in after the transfer window will mean he has to work with PB's players and cannot change that for some time. However, I do believe the players we have are capable of more in the right hands.

Turf the northern git out. He is too big time for Southend. Get someone in who wants to get rough and ready with the players. Back to basics. Bring back Tilly and Brush. Phil Brown has to go - he encouraged me to bet more at the casino and I lost. His fault, not mine.

Didn't go last night but listened. Paul Clark usually talks a lot of sense. In summing up after the match he was very critical of Brown tactical acumen. In his opinion Brown is constantly being out thought by his opposite number. He applauded Edinburgh for being pro-active but Brown he said talks a good tactical game, but has to react rather than be a step ahead.

I agree wholeheatedly with those thoughts. Brown just seems incapable of getting even basic recruitment right. We lose a goalkeeper and if you recall his 1st choice replacement was Nelson. Thankfully he opted to stay at Gillingham, otherwise we may still be looking for our first goal of the season !

If Brown thought he was worth keeping we could have stopped him by making a decent offer. I don't get the injuries argument, none of our injured players can replace Deegan and before you say Timlin just no, he's way past his sell by date, I would have let him go over Deegan.

You do not need to appologise as I am too long in the tooth to be offended.

I did not realise it was 2 wins in 25 ! Oh my. Cannot argue with that.

Thanks

Tony

Couldnt agree more with this, even the most criticised area of his game, his passing would've been more creative then going backwards every time we have the ball in the middle. Atleast deegan had the confidence to try a long cross field ball every now and then to a runner, fair enough most of them went wayward, but atleast he tried something.

Any offer has to be given the OK by Kavanagh. If he says no then that's it, including players we are trying to sign. I'm not blaming Kavanagh or Ron, they have to produce a miracle for a club that is in the bottom 1/3rd of the L1 finance league.

The miracle being the fans demand for promotion to the Championship.

I don't demand promotion to the championship, I demand a manager who wants to be here and isn't whoring himself out to any club who will listen. I also demand a manager who isn't on sky sports in the morning of a game talking about who other teams are playing, I also demand a manager who is at a match miles from Southend the night before a game doing commentary. I demand a manager who doesn't go on the highlights show after a shocking defeat and speak about how much he'd love the Bolton job and dis-respecting SUFC fans. That's before I even bothering going on about our terrible the tactics are and how embarrassing it is to have a defensive coach who hasn't got a clue how to get his team defending.

I wanted Brown gone months ago because I saw this coming. I of course hope I am wrong and he turns it around but you cannot forget about how poor we have been since Christmas last year. That's just naive and before you know it we'll be back in league 2. With two away games coming up I can't see us picking up anything more than a point.

Brown big time? bring back Tilly and Brush? come on Tand B don't deserve sarcasm like that, great servants of the club in my eyes,Brown could do his self a favour by asking Tilly some tips on how to get on in this club and with the fans and calm down on the outside interests that distract him so much though I doubt it,Tilly over Brown any bloody day.

Where does the blame lie for the mismanagement of signings then ? We have wasted a lot of money on failures since Brown has been here whether it be wages, signing on fees etc.. Barnard, Eastwood, Hunt, Bolger would all have been on a lot more than Deegan. I think Deegan was treated badly, we stalled and stalled over giving him a proper contract, wasn't it a 3 month trial type deal initially ? The guy worked his nuts off to prove himself. If the current and past failures had shown half the effort we would have had a lot more success. Cox has a huge question mark over his worth right now, maybe he needs to gain some fitness but the general consensus from those around me on Saturday was he looks over weight, slow and not that interested.
