His son will face hell from angry Southend fans for rest of his life, he would face death threats against him and his family’s etc, would he want that?
At this point it’s not whether he wants that.

It’s whether he’s even able to stop it from happening.

26 days and counting, nothing to suggest we’ll exist after the 1st March.

Ron isn't choosing to send us out of business, he's just really **** with money. He won't want us out of business for a variety of reasons but that doesn't mean it can't happen, getting this sort of money together at this point is going to be very tough if he hasn't already sorted something out (which is possible).

I feel so much better now that Spinner has told it as it is. I mean, who knew? Still, fills a few columns in the Echo I suppose.
It's more publicity for the club's plight, not to mention the fact it's made front page in the Echo. What tools have we got other than cranking up the pressure in public? Might have little effect but it's something!

Most fans would appreciate that IF the offer of genuine help hadn’t been rejected time and time again.

FWIW I’m genuinely split 50:50 as to whether he’ll pay it or not (as always, it’s the hope that kills you) but if he doesn’t, when repeated offers to help were rejected….

Honest question, do you know how many of those just want the football club? Or are most of them looking to make a quick profit on the whole project.
Why the derisory "quick profit"? Unless you're oil money or state-funded, you'd be pretty silly not to go into something wanting to make a profit, regardless of a love for football or for the club. SUFC is assetless and worthless, but grossly overvalued by Martin due to the paper "debt" (accrued rent and management charges) that he's saddled it with so for many interested parties, the development and making some money out of it will appeal and shouldn't necessarily be seen as a bad thing. Unrealistic? Well, that's another question.

Who knows, anyone interested in acquiring the development too might have better and more detailed plans than Martin (wouldn't be too difficult) for a modern stadium and how it will actually benefit the club and city. You know, perhaps put the club's needs from the stadium higher up the priority list of the overall development rather than treating it as a vehicle and a nuisance add-on.

Unfortunately he's so badly neglected Roots Hall and the club's finances that we don't have the luxury of time for amended plans to be drawn-up and resubmitted.

Why do people feel the need to keep dragging Julie into this, she has nothing to do with the club and is far too busy running the Amy May Trust in any case, it's uncalled for and needs to stop

My point was how many of the offers were actually after the football club or were they only buying them because of the whole package. What's to stop anybody buying everything and then dumping the football team because they have the money from the project?

I agree with this but the same should be applied when people describe RM as greedy. After all, both seller and interested buyers are looking to make the money they want to make from the project. It being worth more to RM than it is to them is why we remain stuck, surely?

Any one checked out the net worth of Southend director Frank van Wezel
Its 132 million he has been a director of this club for decades cant believe he would not step up and help out if Ron needed him too..
He must have a passion for the club to stick around for so long..
He is also chairman of the limited company, not Martin, according to Companies House website
