We don't know (which I guess is the point). For example we have been told by very reliable poster that the bridging loan is in place- its perfectly possible that this is true and the loan comes with conditions one of which is planning approval? What do we know about this? How long was it expected to take? Why delays? Who is responsible? Did RM believe it would be sorted much sooner? Both the club and SBC are "disappointed with progress"? The problem is it might be convenient treat rumour and speculation as "facts" but it doesn't make them so.

And of course we all have to say it else the name calling follows- I do not want RM to remain as the owner of the club, the time has come for a new owner (even if we can't choose who). The only real debate is the timing.
If the loan has been agreed then it’s agreed and the bank pays out

If there are conditions then the loan is not agreed

If the loan isn’t agreed you should not say it would be weeks

Everything can be agreed and indeed signed. Any agreement has conditions. And some of those conditions may apply before you can draw down on the agreement that is in place.

I am not saying this is the case. I admit I don't know (so not a "fact"). But it is indeed a possibility. It won't become any less so because its an option you don't like :-)

How can there be no evidence that he knew at the time lol

Scenario a - Bank manager can I have a loan - yes it’s agreed and will be weeks

Scenarios b - bank manager can I have a loan - no

You wouldn’t say a bridging loan would be weeks if you hadn’t got it agreed so therefore there is evidence he lied

Why wouldn't one say that something will take weeks if that what you think it will take??

In Jan I told my sister I think our dad's house sale would complete early Feb. It hasn't, I haven't lied as that was my expectation. I was wrong - that's a fact. Now if I had told my sister that the sale would complete in early Feb, knowing that it wouldn't - that would be a lie.

If you have evidence that Ron knew the bridging loan would not be in place in weeks, not months, then lets see it, else it is your opinion that Ron has lied - not a fact.

Though this summary from BBC this morning may prove of interest;

Although the club's accounts are long overdue, the most recent set give some insight into where the club's cash comes from.
The figures show in 2019 it made:
  • £2.65m in advertising
  • £1m from operations
  • £584,000 from trading players
  • £728,000 in season ticket sales
  • £413,000 in bar and catering income
  • £90,000 in television rights
  • £1.47m in league income
Overall, the accounts show a £7.4m turnover and an operating loss of £2.36m in 2019, down from almost £3m in 2018.
About £6.2m was spent on staff costs in 2019.

Mr Lawrence says returning to the English Football League was the goal for the second half of the season.
"Promotion to League Two alone would swing the turnover in our favour by at least £1.4m, reducing the current loss to a manageable number," he continued.
Blimey. If they improved the beers on tap, made the bar habitable and perhaps dropped the price a little to increase sales, the bar revenue could easily equal season ticket sales.

Players have now been told by Ron they won't be paid until after 1 march earliest and he still needs to arrange some money to even do that. It's a different message to what he told them 2 weeks ago. Obviously their unhappy and heads have gone down.
He's told them he's always been successful against hmrc so he feels he can be again.
He also glibly advised them that should any take legal action he would of course win!!!
I understand transfer requests can now be sent in.
Lapota is injured and unsurprisingly so is hyde. No date for a scan for a Lapota for obvious reasons but doesn't sound a quick thing.
Collin and steeeeve are still only training with no minutes so don't expect to see either to soon.
I wish I had better news to offer.
If we let in the first goal it will take monumental character to draw or win. If we grab the first, there's a chance.
Come on you blues

Its all kinda irrelevant really, and while the club slowly dies, we argue over whether it was a lie or expectation. I side on the expectation side but that doesn't hide the fact that Rons track record is a little optimistic on time lines, hence I took that quote with hope and a bucket full of salt over the shoulder!
Lets just hope it is agreed and subject to a minor condition that can be resolved in time.
What does worry me is Ron saying "it will be tight". Applying the bucket of salt logic I've lived by for the last 10 to 15 years, suggests that means to most of us 'nearly impossible'

Christ.

Fair play to all staff (playing and office) for continuing to work under such awful mismanagement.

I don't know what else to say other than the bloke has to go at the earliest opportunity and will never be forgiven.

We are royaly screwed. His arrogance, if this is what he said is shocking.

The audacity of the man is quite staggering! What on earth is RM playing at? I wouldn't blame any of the players if they threw in the towel and refused to play tonight. I think we're doomed.

I agree - it was stating opinions as facts that irked me.

Intheknows post though is worrying

Who does he think he is?

Seriously, they should all just strike and will no doubt be backed by all the fans.

What a total tosser that bloke is. To attempt to intimidate the players, even in jest, is so wrong on all levels. If we come out of this with a functioning team capable of challenging for the play-offs, I will incredibly surprised.

Wow, just WOW :Stunned:

I have just changed my vote to 'Wound up' after reading that.

RM is playing with 100's of peoples livelihoods not to mention a 117 year old community asset to thousands of people and this is his take on it.

I've never really been one for supporting action against the hierarchy up to now as there is little chance of achieving anything IMO, but even I now think the time has come to mobilise something serious.

This is disgusting.

I still think we need at least 6 points to be safe. Playoffs will be out of the window within a few weeks.

I actually think they should refuse to play now I’ve read intheknow’s post. Worrying that Ron talking about being successful against hmrc, makes me think he won’t have the money and thinks they’ll give him more time. If he had the money he wouldn’t need to be ‘successful’ again, surely? Even if there is another adjournment, the staff and players will surely walk?

The man management skills of that guy are non existent, assuming the above is as he delivered the message.
Surely even the most resolute of players to stick it out must be having second thoughts after that
