The deadline of the 1st March may not be the immediate problem now. I think that we will get a stay of execution on the 1st. But the players are the most pressing problem now. How long before they start to walk? They're holding on at the moment, but if one goes then the rest will go. Then who will play? Has the youth team downed tools? We may not be able to field a team in the next week or two.

I genuinely don’t think there’s another manager in the country doing a finer job that Kevin Maher at the moment. No doubt manager of the season will go to Wrexham or Notts County’s manager for winning the National League with a League One budget, but my god does Kev deserve it.

Anyway, although our situation is about as ****ing bleak as it gets, we should all be thankful we’re not as badly run as Everton. I mean, imagine being in the Premier League with a billionaire owner!

As the planning permission currently stands without a new stadium the housing cannot happen. Why would he have spent a couple of million on a new training ground if that was the plan??

He's had planning permission before - so he's been almost as close as this before, but I'd agree this is the closest to a new stadium the club has been since Roots Hall was started

He didn't. The various housing partners have. He isn't paying a penny

He only kept it going to keep his dream of developing the Roots Hall site alive.

We’re finding out the hard way why the mantra is ‘Never have a property developer as the chairman of a football club’.
Yeah. He’s not giving the impression of someone who wants the club to exist anymore.

My thoughts FWIW…

I was totally in this will be sorted camp, but now no longer think it will be. think he has lost total interest in the club. While he didn’t have planning permission he needed us to ensure it would be granted. While we were a league club he enjoyed the limelight and could see more riches through the club. Roll on a few years it’s all become a bit difficult. Covid, falling down and then out of the league with no instant return and less funding coming in next year.

He has his planning, he doesn’t need the club now, it’s just a inconvenience. I think this is planned, god knows where he now is with his myriad of companies but he can probably let a few sink with the club and keep the development arms. He has played Tom who has been his front man taking the flack, he has played Stan to keep a lid on the fans and he has played us all.

His legacy will be some fancy pitches which a new team can have to build from again…on the edges of a large housing development reaping rewards for its owner

Hope I’m wrong I really do..but all the promises of the last 12 months have all disappeared with no sign of anything improving

That land has been earmarked by the council to meet the boroughs housing quota, there is more chance of amending the plans minus the stadium than them scrubbing them.

Question, on the training ground, is it completely completed as in clubhouse, gym, changing rooms, players canteen etc built as well or just the pitches at this stage I’ve not seen any pics

Yes agreed - but it's the same principle with all of it - why did the development companies, linked to Ron and/or his family - pay the £2m for the new training ground if it will just reduce the end profits to Ron/family companies.

I'm not convinced of the theory Ron is deliberately collapsing the football club in order to not build a stadium and max out the housing.

Tom and Stan aren’t children. They are still willingly part of it. Are they both taking a wage?

Quite possible - but he runs the risk planning permission would not be amended and probably significant further delays.

No the buildings at the training ground are in a later phase

The players will walk out if it carries on. Imo this will carry on till March. They shouldn’t be treated like this.

I wouldn't be purchasing tickets to Torquay just yet (or even Notts!) - Will the players play? Will they even have a coach to travel on I wonder...

I think rm believes they will put up with this till March. Maybe he’s promised them a bonus when there’s more funds. But why should they?

Would be interesting if they went or threatened to stop playing how quickly rm would find the cash to pay them...

We need to go to house, he hates the protests outside his house. Imagine we could get quite a few every night till March 1st.
More useful players should threaten to go on strike. He’ll quickly come up with the cash. Why go to his house to get verbally abused whilst he cries victim ?
