Question Has Ron gambled and lost with the future of SUFC??

what a nasty thread, full of rumours, hearsay, doom & Gloom, are any of you Ron Martin? no? then shall we wait and see what happens? And anyone that takes joy in saying I told you so! seem a bit barmy to me.

How is it a NASTY thread? they are rumours that seem to have some kind of substance, wake up and smell the coffee sunshine

Everything is all fluffy and nice! Must be great to be you...

Maybe this is naive, but I've not seen a mention of this in the national press or the BBC, they'd be all over this as they can wheel out the "football in crisis" stories and get Mihir Bose to write another blog about how the premiership is killing football etc.

I'm under the impression that this has even flown under the radar of the Echo, so the chance of a national picking it up is going to be small - but like you, if this case is a severe as alleged then this certainly will be big news, so surprised its not being reported somewhere...?

This is what I keep thinking, if nobody had spotted it in that London Gazette thing even the club wouldn't have issued a Michael Winner "Calm Down Dear" statement and today would've passed with just the usual "WHEN ARE WE GOING TO SIGN SOMEONE" posts rather than the "I always had Ron's card marked" messages.

I support the club, I support the players playing for it, I support those who run the club (except when they start alleging that fans choose to fight each other), I've kept my feet on the ground and just kept hoping we keep unearthing raw talent without the need for massive signings, should the club get put into trouble today then so be it, I'm not able to change anything and nor could about 99% of the people who support the club, all we can do is just keep doing our bit which is encouraging the 11 men (that's if we get these defenders ;-)) that are out there on the pitch and hoping we do well enough to cement our place in this league.

Leave the worrying to those who are being paid to worry, we've got bigger problems of our own in the majority with a recession doing the rounds and knowing people losing their jobs etc to all be at each other's throats in a massive smug-off, if the proverbial hits then fan then we just need to keep doing what we do best, SUPPORTING SUFC!!!

5th most Americanized (sic) post ever on here I believe.

Seconded.

I await proper news from our local press, the football association or the club itself. Not some two bit london rag who want to cheer up the Orient fans.

UTB.

The London gazette is not a two bit london rag! Maybe you should read up on what it is there for.

How though? Roin sent an email around about it, it has been discussed at length on a forum CP frequents, and CP has discussed it himself on 606. Frankly don't believe that this has been "under the radar".

Ok maybe I was exagerrating, I have now read the article on the club website dated 16th July, you'll have to excuse me for missing that, I was getting married that day then on honeymoon.

If this was expected to go badly for us then i would expect far more local coverage (Echo, BBC Essex etc), more from the club and more media coverage rather than just the London Gazette.

The fact is this happened last year aswell, it was fine then. Since then the rules have changed to allow clubs more time to pay, we should get an adjournment.

Must admit i find it quite extraordinary that local media hasn't reported on it, especially considering the rubbish they print at times!

Oh and congrtulations by the way.

Disagree.

The Echo and Yellow Advertiser have a far superior list of visiting massage services.

Newspapers and other media, have to be able to substantiate their story. Given the statement from the club, the story would have to go along the lines of SUFC, in HMRC winding up mix up - its not going to sell many papers. To print anything else they would have to find some evidence that the clubs statement was untrue.

If I could give you pos rep for this one post I would, 27 times over.

I always peruse with glee whilst having my Yellow Advertiser dump of an evening and wonder how "Ladies of the night massage services" have not fallen foul of ASA rules, we all know it's a massage with a happy ending but they may as well have just called themselves ""Blowies for cash".

Theres no fluffy and nice involved I just prefer not to panic until something has actually happened, yeah im concerned but dont see the point in endlessly speculating on how all of a sudden were going bankrupt, and how happy certain people will be to say I told you so!

sunshine? nasty was referring to the people saying, cant wait to say "i predicted that, arent i great"

and no im not spoiling for an online rumble, of course im concerned too, just think some of the comments are OTT

But hang on my darlings, when J started doubting Ron and the Big man's plans, months, in some cases years.. ago. I was shouted down. Now the tide is turning, i can't wait til i say - I told you so, in fact i'll start a thread on it with that title, that's how much glee i will have of the situation.

So you are more pleased about being right than the actual position we face ourselves in - nice one !!

I know market conditions dictate even minted people can't go around flashing cash right now, but (& to be fair we don't know he hasn't) but I'd like to know why Ron hasn't atried to get another large investor on board. I'm not talking the filthy stupid cash of a Man City or even now a Notts County, but just a decent six-figure injection. Surely there must be somebody local and with SUFC tendencies (a Moyet, a Gahan or even some other less famous minted resident of Essex) who might consider investing for a bit of nice publicity and little expectation?

Good call.

I think Vince Clarke could do a job for us.
