Question Has Ron gambled and lost with the future of SUFC??

He has said time and time again "there will be 1 signing by the end of this week" "We are going to sign 3 players etc etc".. Heck he even comes on the pitch saying "I am giving Tilson a war chest" .. and the next minute, Tilly is on the Radio saying he is frustrated about the lack of funds..

I do agree that Ron should keep quiet rather than infer things that are quite unlikely to happen. Let the press speculate until players are actually signed
or released. Theres no mileage in giving the fans false hopes.

I can't believe some people are saying that things are fine. The club is in a very poor state.

But no point in argueing over it, at the end of the day we are just customers of SUFC, if worst come to worst then people will just have to accept it. Bit like Tesco's, say they were folded up, everybody would just have to go to Morrisons and get on with their lives.

Football wouldn't exist without fans, the fans pay the subscriptions for TV.

Are you suggesting if the club did fold, we would all have to go and watch Col U?

Well im sure nobody would do that, espcially with the amount of time it takes to get away from that ground. ;)

Im thinking from the business point of view, agreed business needs customers, but what goes on at a business is for them to deal with, they don't need to explain whats happening to their customers.

I remember posting on a thread re the new stadium after having a chat with someone on the board at roots hall , they was adament that the stadium would not go ahead and they even laughed at the mention of it .

Told me in no uncertain terms that we was skintos , never really lost sleep over it as there was plenty of counter stories stating everything was ok and also Rons own words . Looking back now maybe the chat i had about a year ago was spot on and a little bit poor to think that has been going on for that length of time .

If that is the case then we'll have to brush ourselves down and get on with things , youth players will get given a chance and there will be a lot of changes going on .......mad times !!

It's not just the lack of signings - it's the complete and utter tosh he spews, and the mis management. I spoke to a Director of the club the other day, and Smiffy can confirm this, when i cracked a couple of Jokes etc and posed a few questions, the said director was remarkebly uncomfortable, and indeed shared his concerns as well.
If indeed true then the only shame should be that of the Director in that he gave, whether intentionally or not, an impression of the clubs situation in a less than favourable light. Maybe his responses were misinterpreted, maybe he meant to give the suggested image, whichever, whatever, he should not have allowed this impression. Even if the club were in the direst of straits, which i do not believe, it is not over until the fat lady sings and wrong impressions are damaging. I for one subscribe to the view that there is a great deal of overdramatisation of the clubs predicament. It is a lower league club, in a recession, that has thankfully been steered by a thrifty captain that puts survival before short term success. Bravo RM, bravo.

I hope things work out ok for you guys, opposition banter is one thing but the loss of any league club and your local rival in particular is another thing entirely.

the true hero, and saviour of this club is actually Tilson himself.. as he has performed miracles, with near enough nothing - the problem is, how much longer can tilly take it. Ron has only been seen to be successful here, and for 1 reason only, Tilly. He landed on his feet the day Tilson took the manager's position.

On that, I'd hope, we're all agreed.

If Ron Martin, just stopped bullshitting for one moment, he have not lost the amount of respect he once had among the people of the club, and this board - He has said time and time again "there will be 1 signing by the end of this week" "We are going to sign 3 players etc etc".. To be fair to RM, he actually said Tilson hoped to tie up the signing of a new centre half this week, which turned out to be Chorley who went to Orient after us agreeing terms with his agent.

Also, he actually said Tilson wanted to sign 3 players.

Its easy to bend the truth to support your claims, which appears to be what your doing.

Afterall, there is nothing like jumping the gun is there...

Fair enough, but RM shouldnt be coming out promosing signings and installing hope into fans if its not going to happen

RM hasn't promised signings though.

Last summer he said they HOPED to bring in a left back (Dan Harding arrived), an experienced winger (Kevin Betsy arrived) and a centre back from a League One Club (no-one arrived).

This summer he said Tilson HOPED to sign a centre back in the week, which turned out to be Chorley who we had agreed terms with his agent before he signed for Orient, and he said Tilson HOPED to add 3 players to his side and Sawyer has arrived.

Reading some of the threads coming out over the last 24 hours and the ongoing snippets we've been hearing e, does anyone think that Ron - perhaps victim of circumstance more than anything - has played Russian Roulette with the clubs future and found the barrell was loaded?

Worrying rumours, hearsay and 'comments from good sources' - which all of course may be *****, but at the same time, there is no smoke without fire.

Perhaps the stadium was a step too far (sorry to my mate who may have been right all along on this!!). Perhaps we spent money we didnt have yet and now the stadium is not going to happen and we have no way to pay any debts back. Club has no player assets (doubt we'd actually get £300k for Grant and Moussa is not going to fetch much yet), no stadium (is that correct??) and hence nothing tangible to recover monies.

Are these trial players literally being used to fill up holes in the squad pre-season with no intention of signing them?

All of the above is NOT FACT and my own opinion on a possible situation. I think time is coming to seek out the FACTS from the top man himself...

Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps. Or maybe perhaps not. Who knows?

One thing's for certain. There'll be people weeing themselves with glee and running around shouting "I told you so, I told you so" if things do go pear-shaped.

Oh well we'll see soon enough I suppose. Then perhaps all of this assumption and supposition will stop and we can get back to slagging off players.

What prediction?? Well you tell me... i said i registered my doubts.. Try to read your forum Timmy, before you reply. Nice one darling.

Wooa there, no need to be so defensive. You stated above that eventually you would be in a position to say 'I told you so'. I just genuinly wondered what is was you told us?

this is a complete rumour and probably untrue but i got a little worried when i heard on the way to work by some elderly man with his fellow work colleages saying that they heard about martin dawn plc being in trouble too =(

this is likely to be complete noncence and another lie! but i cant help but get worried abit!
