Shame, a good player but not the best. Spent most of the time falling over, albeit winning free kicks. Goal scoring record not great for a CM, but thank him for his loyalty especially when all those others left. As far as Stevenage are concerned, its a poor move really, a small club who have performed well over the past couple of seasons but will probably be back in league 2 in a few years. Im surprised he hasnt set his stall a bit higher, but good luck Granty and thanks for the service.

Very sad news for me, I remember when the club were at the height of itheir troubles, Granty signing an extended contract was a ray of light amidst the darkness. Also the start of PS first season with a new team, Grantys endeavours and goals were so important. I wish him well in the future.

Sad, more so for the fact that Grant was the last surviving link between the 'old' Southend (Tilson) and the 'new' (Sturrock). Has been a loyal servant and I wish him luck, although, as with others on here, I thought that he would do better than Stevenage. (I hope he enjoys their rigorous training techniques!) I hope that he is the only one that leaves but as he parted on a free and IIRC PS said we may have to sell one of the squad, can we exoect Hall to follow???....I hope not.

Not bothered either. Good player, but we'll find another one. A move is probably in the interests of both parties.

Thanks Granty for your loyalty and the laughs you often provided at MTBDs and such like, no doubt Stevenage offered you much better than we were able and I shouldn't have thought anyone would begrudge you that.

As for us, well, I think it would suit PS better to build a midfield around Timlin with Ferdinand, and Kalala and Dailly still in negotiations (or is Dailly staying on a pay per match basis?) rather than trying to accommodate them all plus Grant in effectively 2 positions.

Last I heard Dailly had agreed a pay per play deal

Big fan of Grants, he was my favourite player in this squad, but he's too good for this division maybe if we went up he would of stayed. He will be a big miss in our midfield hope we can bring someone decent in.

Mainly gutted by this as I was a big fan when he was on form. His form and effort dropped away in the middle third of this season, it was only at the end of the season when he needed to get a contract somewhere that it picked up.

That said, he stayed when all around him deserted us, so even just for that I wish him well

No panic its only just in June. Im sure next week will see the start of more moving and shaking. Expect a few more out of contract players to go (Barker, Gilbert).

There are LOADS of good free transfers out there, no need to rush in at the mo.

Wouldn't be too disappointed if either of these moved on...Gilbert is in my opinion "too inconsistent" for my liking, and Barker is becoming slow (often turned by opposition forwards).

Granty has been a loyal and well liked player for Southend, and although he's not been a player with as many goals as we'd like to have seen, he has been a good work horse in the middle of the park, and i wonder how many of his freekicks he gained for us lead to a Blues goal?

Sad to see Grant go - good luck to him.

As others have said, I would not have expected Stevenage to be where he ended up.

Makes me wish we had kept Sawyer even more ..............

Gutted that Grant has gone, Time for Sturrock to bring in a Playmaker. As Timlin isnt good enough in my opinion.
Grant in the playoff's showed how much this club meant to him he was man of the match for us both games! Trying to find a player like him will be very hard!
