get out there and vote

The best thing I've heard is that the Argentinian I work with (and who has a German wife, and daughter) has registered to vote so that he can ensure there is one extra anti UKIP vote!

That should infuriate a few people.

That's what makes this country great, only in Britain,he and his family have won the jackpot living here, hope they know that?

Ditched tactical voting and went for what I believe in - I feel pure and warm inside.

Tactical voting always ends up biting you in the arse. You always end up with what you don't really want and regret it in the end. Always best to go with what you really want regardless of whether you get it or not.

I'm not sure....hence the question mark. Just seem to remember votes being split and he was about 3rd choice after the first round of voting. Happy to be corrected.

No, no independent either. I might have voted for them if there were.

I went Independent in Thorpe.

Didn't see the a labour, Tory or Lib Dem candidate once in the area or knock on my door. They mostly care about Thorpe Bay.

The Independent candidate has come round twice at least, possibly three times. Spent a good 15 minutes talking with him. He got my vote as he actually cares. I also refused to vote for that turncoat, Kaye.

I think Ed winning rather than David was a surprise but I don't think there was any tactical voting going on. Certainly there are rival sides in the party who will back the person that fits their politics more and will do that at the expense of personality. David was seen as an easier sell to the public. The fact they are brothers gave it a much greater sense of drama.

UKIP is the only option for anybody who doesn't lean left. Under Cameron, the Tories have fully embraced big government technocracy. environmental puritanism and crony corporatism masquerading as capitalism. They need a kick up the arse to return to the glory days of Maggie, and even the Iron Lady wasn't tough enough on Europe and immigration. Farage is the only credible conservative leader in the country at the moment.

And of course he is a true conservative who would like to reverse the laws on gay marriage and fox hunting and smoking in public places and reduce maternity pay and extend grammar schooling and bring back capital punishment - a real conservative of old.

According to someone who is there early reports seem to indicate or the rumours at least, that 6 UKIP seats in Southend and Tories doing bad.

And 11gains in Basildon for UKIP. As of now they have gained 87 seats with barely a third of results declared. It would seem that perhaps people really do like the new nasty party, as our political expert Barna likes to describe them.

Listening to some of the tory and labour mps making comment and suggesting it's just a protest vote might want to start banging a different drum.

Castle Point Tories lost control of the council for the first time in yonks, with the Council leader losing her seat. Canvey Independents maintain their strong position, and 5 UKIP councillors are now in place. I think Tories lost favour because of the various scandals that have come out connected with ownership of land proposed for the planned building.

Basildon being used as a barometer has often seen me shaking my head over the years and its happened again.

The fact that London is the centre of 'scary' multiculturism and the region with the lowest UKIP vote counts for a lot.

I have just been interviewed by Sky News at Benfleet station and asked for my opinion on the UKIP council and prospect of a UKIP MP.

It's edgy stuff but if Sky have the balls to broadcast it I predict my response will shake the political establishment to its core.

That and the establishments of beatboxing and robotics dancing too.

I voted Green in the Euro elections but the fact that all the local councils have gone UKIP leads me to suspect they won't get in.
