get out there and vote

Not even the slime that is Nick Clegg would walk away from the present coalition only to form one with Miliband. I would be utterly amazed if this happened. Labour will still be in opposition and looking for a new leader.

I wouldn't be surprised at all! The vast majority of politicians seem to be morally corrupt or intent on making their own mark in history like Gove's ridiculous remarks about dropping "Of Mice and Men" and "To Kill a Mockingbird" from the prescribed reading syllabus. Utter ****!

Great books.

Incidentally,as far as the Lib/Dems are concerned you could argue (and they certainly would) that they put country before party in going into coalition with the Tories.

I also thought that that Glegg showed a lot of balls in taking on NF in those TV debates. It was high time that somone put the case for Europe.

(Pity, that Yogi rarely gets involved in political debates on here. He's a big Lib/Dem man).

You clearly don't get it .

There will be a binary decsion for the British people to make at next year's election.

But it won't be between UKIP and Labour.

It'll be between the Tories and Labour.

Vote UIP at the G/E and you'll put Labour in power nationally.

And you clearly don't read your own link. Ashcrofts poll is a snapshot not a prediction and half of voters haven't made their minds up to who they are going to vote for.

You are starting to sound desperate for Beaker to get in.

Bacon sandwich anyone?

:nope: Oh yes I did.

You're the one who seems to think that you can extrapolate from local council and European election results to predict what will happen in a G/E not me.

For example UKIP polled about 13% in the 2009 Euro elections but that vote fell away to about 3% in the 2010 G/E.

I think we both know, that starting from a baseline figure of 25%+, UKIP's vote won't fall away so badly in 2015.

You say that, but whilst the Lib Dems were negotiating with the tories to form a coalition, they were also negotiating with Labour. The stumbling block was that they wanted rid of Gordon Brown, which Labour refused. I therefore wouldn't put anything past Clegg.

What would be interesting is if Labour turned the tables on the Lib Dems, and agreed a coalition deal so long as they got rid of Clegg...

(I can't see Labour being able to do that, but it would be interesting to see what would happen.)

Two of my favourite books of all time...

Why is Clegg slime?

Ashcroft's research would put Labour in front due to where their vote was increasing in marginal seats rather than the country as a whole.
From last night it seemed that UKIP were coming first where Conservative had previously come first and UKIP were coming second where Labour had previously come first. Also the EU elections in UK have never been a draw for the left where opinion on it is less rigid - in / out is less of an issue for the left.

Why would the Lib Dems not for a coalition with Labour? They picked the Conservatives because marginally they were the party with the highest % of the vote so in the name of democracy that would seem the right thing to do. It could be argued that their manifesto was more left wing than Labour's. if at the next election Labour are in the position the Tories were in last time then absolutely they will enter a coalition. Not to would just make them the Tory B team. If they held the balance if power and didn't form a coalition then in an election re-run they would be wiped out as a wasted vote.

My kids are studying Of Mice And Men for their GCSEs and yet again Gove does them a disservice by critisizing curriculum at the point where they are dedicating their time to something he keeps trying to make worthless. Gove really is an A* ****.
