Rumours that the rescheduled fight will be in Germany in September
That's a bit harsh on all the guys who had tickets for the fight in Manchester. Bit of a sell out if true, but then again Tyson Fury only cares about one person and that's himself.
Meh, that's boxing for you. A very cruel, tough, unfair business at times. And I wouldn't say this is neccessarily Tyson's doing. This has Fat Mick written all over it £££££
Look at that photo. Look at Fury's hair & beard. Completely different to the photos/videos he's put on Twitter over last few days. That photo isn't recent
Unfortunately this isn't the first time this type of thing has happened in boxing & it certainly won't be the last. Promoters and fighters, are incredibly greedy & very money-orientated (even though I understand the fighters perspective) TBH though, that's a direct result of the sport having 4 different World governing bodies.
This is a simple case of Fat Mick trying to fleece the fans, and make as much money as possible. Selling tickets at three or four times their usual value was shameful. Thankfully, (and we don't see this enough) the fans voted with their feet & derailed Mick's plan for a lifetime supply of KFC Family Feasts.
I know I'm not Hearn's or even Fish Eye's biggest fan, but **** me, they are incredible compared to Hennessey, who is possibly the worst British promoter on the scene today. Tyson would do well to send him packing.
**** me, Frank Warren has pulled it out the bag!
Liam Smith vs Canelo!
Being fair, I think this is an awful move from Canelo. I've always been a fan of his, but he's steadily wrecking his reputation. He ducked Cotto for years (before eventually beating him), and now he's ducking Golovkin, to take on Liam Smith ffs. In football equivalents it's like Chelsea ducking Man City, to challenge Wigan.
This isn't even close. Canelo absolutely bodies Smith & stops him
Not really a fan of the Smith's anyway, but I think that's more because I can't stand Joe Gallagher, who just has to be the centre of attention.
Also, just a side note, Fish Eyes has "announced" fights in the past & started selling tickets for the event, where the billed opponent hasn't even agreed, let alone signed a contract. Allegedly.
(I must add the allegedly part, because Fish Eyes went on a rampage a few years ago, suing anyone & everyone who dared to make these accusations & claims. At one point, in the boxing world Frank was renamed "Allegedly Warren" Little bit of research will show a string of coincidental event cancellations though. Allegedly
I have read and heard this before. A few times on IFLTV Eddie Hearn claims he gets at least one legal letter a month from Frank Warren.
Here is an interesting snippet from wikipedia:
"Warren has admitted to have issued over 40 writs,[SUP][8][/SUP] mainly against newspapers over various negative comments, including winning a £10,000 payment against the Daily Mirror.[SUP][7][/SUP][SUP][8][/SUP] Warren accepted £30,000 in libel damages against the Daily Record newspaper in respect of false allegations that he dishonestly fixed the outcome of the fight between John Simpson and Derry Matthews in March 2007, alleging that Warren had met the fight referee the evening before the bout. As well as paying Warren damages and legal costs, the newspaper also published a full apology.[SUP][9][/SUP] Due to the number of writs that has been issued in his career, the internet website Boxrec on its forums prevents his name from appearing in print and instead the word "allegedly" appears in place of his name. Other popular forums have been forced to censor his surname to prevent legal action being taken against them."
Few quick predictions for tonight's event;
Joshua: easy stoppage victory. I'm expecting 2nd or 3rd round, but won't be surprised if it's over in 1. Won't go past 3
Groves - Murray: I'm going Murray on points. I'm a Groves fan, so will be cheering him on, but I fancy Murray to nick it 115-113. Also expecting Groves to hit the canvas at least once, (although Murray isn't a banger)
Eubank: stops it whenever he wants. He'll showboat, feint & toy with Doran, and won't look troubled at all. Let's have a punt at 6th round stoppage, although it really could be any round
Benn: 1st or 2nd round win
Whyte: 2nd round win
Will address tonights Results later, but for now... Tyson's Fury's career is about to take a nosedive :stunned::unsure:
Edit: and that's not boxing related. Fury's been a naughty boy allegedly
Regarding the alleged Tyson Fury PEDS rumours I recall watching a interview with him where he was asked a question about performance enhancing drugs and he said "Every single boxer in the sport takes drugs" so then the reporter returned with "So do you take them then?" And I know its very exaggerated and hypothetical but Tyson literally struggled, stuttered and awkwardly couldn't answer a simple, no context question. It obviously and probably don't mean nothing but the guy really doesn't do himself much favours.
