TBF i love freddy as much as the next person , but for some reason he has lost the fire to score goals that he had when he was with us. Im not sure if he can regain it but at the moment he doesnt warrant a start.

When Britt returns and Tomlin and Corr pick up bans/injury's then Freddy will have his chance. If he doesnt take the chances he is given then we may have to face facts that this is a shell of a former great.

What i would say is that at wimbledon before the game the players were in shooting practice and freddy was woeful , but he wasnt the only one. The player that scored almost all was hurst who then couldnt beat the keeper in a one on one.

Make of that what you will.

Personally i think and hope that Freddy chips in and rekindles the fire he once had.

A loan deal is for me the only way forward for Fred. He is not getting game time, the sort of extended run which imo he needs. Now i have no idea if he is putting his back into his training or not, if its not, and eating the wrong foods, then he has only himself to blame, but if he is, and just needs pitch time, i cant see him getting it here at the moment. So even if he is loaned out at leagues below us, playing week in week out can only be good for him.

Freddy wont go on loan to non-league in a million years.

You may well be right, but at the moment would Fred walk into any league 1 or 2 side and get regular games, which surely is the point of him going out on loan in the first place.

No I dont know if any other clubs would take him on loan, but just cant see him agreeing to play in non-league at this stage of his career, and who can blame him.

Im not sure a non-league loan would be of any benefit anyway.

Dont no what the answer is for for fred then, unless he gets game time here, it could be his last season.

Me neither. He needs to play games, but theres no way he will do so when Gavin ' No End Product' Tomlin is making a mockery of his earlier form and scoring like he is.

I couldnt make the game on saturday + havent seen the highlights,,,, but just out of interest ,,, who looked more dangerous for us ..... Eastwood or Benyon ?????

I would like to no the bottom line about Eastwoods fitness, or lack of it. Is it an injury that may well bring his career to an early end,or is it just the player himself not putting the work in to get match fit. The guys played realy well last night, beating a very good Brentford side, and there is no doubt that Britt and Tomlin are our best two strikers, and that Cor needed a runout. Now if, as many think, the problem with Fred is just getting pitch time, and an extended run in the side, then last night was a perfect opportunity asuming he was no injured. If Britt goes in the New year, and thats not certain yet i no, its asking a lot of Eastwood to step into the first team and preform with hardly no pitch time to speak of.

if we had gone 3-0 up eastwood + benyon would have come on for a run out ..... Brit + bazza were still causing Brentford problems + especially when we were under the cosh for the last 10 minutes so we didnt want to risk losing the match. corr ended up playing midfield as security whereas fred probably wouldnt have worked hard to scrape out victory. . . . lets face it , Sturrock knows his onions ... another win , another game unbeaten .

Whilst the run continues and the strikers are scoring theres not much of an argument for Freddy to play unfortunately. I want him playing games, but you cant argue with the results

Hopefully there'll be some reserves/closed-door matches where Freddy can get some game time and then hopefully he'll be in a good position to take his chance. I still find is surprising that people want Freddy (3 in 11) to play when we have Britt (12 in 23), Tomlin (8 in 21) and Corr (3 in 10). We need to forget the Freddy of 2007 and treat him (and all our strikers) on their current merits. Eastwood was a quality player but that quality hasn't been evident for a long time now. We all want him to find that form but we can potentially sacrifice our good team spirit and good results. He'll have to work hard to take his chances and give Sturrock something to think about.

Well I hope you are right. I totally blamed PS for last seasons failure to go up and applauded him for this seasons change of tactics and style.

I am concerned though about player selection. Last season we had players languishing on the bench and in the stiffs and our season imploded. I cant help but worry that similar things are happening this season. I cant argue against the form of the strikers or the benefits of a settled side but 2-0 up in the JPT is the perfect opportunity to give players game time.

Ok so 'he had to' pull Corr back and keep him on. Maybe. Or maybe a change of player/s may have freshened things up and given Brentford new headaches. Who knows? History should be about lessons learned. I hope they have been.

i reckon Corr would be a doubt for saturdays match whether he played 60 minutes or 90 minutes last night, and the fact that Corr proved he can last 90 minutes will no doubt help his confidence ..... Sturrock maybe wanted to keep Benyon or Eastwood fresh for saturday / tuesdays matches as they almost certainly will be needed .... espeically if Tomlin is still struggling for fitness .... Its a busy stage of the season so the squad players will soon get their chance

There have been a lot of comments regarding Eastwood's place in the pecking order of strikers. While he may not be the player he was we will never know until he has a run in the side. You can't expect any player to perform at his best without time on the pitch. The trouble is he may well have to wait for that opportunity, while Brit and Tomlin are playing so well.

I hope the same comment applies to Benyon...............
