The players to go on loan MUST be only those not making the squad (starting 11 & bench). To loan anyone who is regular for that would not make sense. hence no Fred loan out; but others might be possibles such as out of favour Spicer or injury returnee Leonard.

Someone asked last night why we don't send players out on loan to get fit elsewhere and PS said the problem is we don't have a big enough squad. The initial period is 1 month minimum with no call back within that time. If we sent FE out on loan and then Corr and Tomlin get injured or suspended, we are down to Britt and Benyon with youths as subs. We don't have the depth. It's a fine and difficult balancing act and players have to take their chance. Freddy had his at Bury and didn't look good so he is now down the pecking order.

Rocket Science it isn't.

Even for you that's a ridiculous post.

Anybody under contract be it footballers ,office workers and any other form of employment you wish to name will probably be sacked if they refuse to do as their company wishes,PS may think a loan deal for FE would suit both the club and player and if Eastwood refused what do you think the outcome would be?PS would suddenly have a change of heart and offer him a starting place regardless of any issues the player may have.

I think you reply was tetchy without any thought.

Nonsense.

If you are employed in one capacity your employer cant then force you to do something else and it can be constructive dismissal if they do.

Otherwise all you have to do to ge rid of any contracted player is send your players on loan to play for the Dog and Duck in the Sunday league and when they refuse sack them.

Where would we loan Freddy to anyway ? He will not drop down into non-league. If Freddy has issues sending him to a club with poor training facilities is hardly going to help.

Again, absolutely ridiculous.

Players turn down loan moves all the time as they're perfectly entitled to do so. If we sacked a player for refusing a loan move I'd expect the PFA to have a fair few things to say about it!

Although not Southend related i remember when Joe Cole moved from West Ham to Chelsea,A branovich tried to send him out on loan to Sparta Moscow. Joe Cole turned down the move.

I think the bigger question is why we do not have more games for the fringe players. There are scores of clubs in the same position as ours. An arranged friendly costs so little. It could be played at a host of training grounds. The players are paid anyway and they can use their own cars to turn up just as they do to training.

Maybe I am being naive but to me it does not take a lot of arranging and must surely benefit the players and clubs concerned. A mixture of fringe and youth players gives the opportunity for fitness and experience to be developed. Come on Blues get on top of it!

Sturrock said that the weatherhas put paid to a lot. The club want to but its not always possible.

You do realise that footballers aren't actually slaves, no?

Why don't we just get Freddy to start the groundwork on the new stadium? If he refuses, etc...

Christ almighty, don't do that. The foundations won't be big enough and the ground will fall apart after 2 months. I've seen Watchdog.

Refusing a loan move of course would not end in the sack BUT if that player has poor discipline he certainly wont make the starting eleven leaving that player just to benchwarm and collect his wages.

Wnen i played combination football we the players were weighed every fortnight and any player who carried more timber was almost certain to be benched or omitted from that squad,Surely decent paid full time pros would have a more severe punishment?

If Freddys discipline and weight are such a massive issue why was he started ahead of Benyon on Saturday ?

Is FE bigger than the club?,He is under contract so basically if he refused any loan deal he would then be liable for the sack.

Currently i fail to see Freds worth at the club.

1. FE is not that fat.
2. Slavery was abolished about 200 years ago.

Think Freddy will start on Tuesday Vs Bury, by now, he should be fitter by now after 5 months of training, even York City captain said he look fatter and easy to mark.
