Freddy should be getting games more reguarly in my opinion. Freddy and barry Corr should be a good combo, they've both scored 20ish goals for us in League two in the past.

Yes we should play them both as they are unfit, and of course the two strikers currently starting games are rubbish so best we drop them

You think PS should drop fit forwards and replace them with 2 unfit forwards,Perhaps we can play Harris as well .

The question was Freddy on loan. Icant see him getting games at the moment, so imo this would be a good idea. If he stays here sitting on the bench till axmas, what will he be like when he is all of a sudden he is expected to play two games a week in the new year, following loanee departchers.

I'm actually a big fan of Sturrocks , but thought on Tuesday he could have given Freddy a run out for the last 20 mins or so.
3-0 up , could have given Tomlin a bretaher before a tough game this Saturday and Freddy some game time.

I can't see a loan move happening.

For it to happen 4 parties need to want it to happen.

1. The manger - probably not opposed to it as it would mean he could allocate his resources more effectively
2. The chairman - probably not an issue only so long as we are winning 4-0 or 4-1 every game otherwise the fan revolt from those still living in 2005 isn't worth the aggro
3. A club who wants to loan him - there won't be a big market for a 29yo forward who's scored 24 goals in 5 years and has an indifferent work ethic.
4. Eastwood - he's shown no inclination to look for a loan move when he's been overlooked for a starting spot at Wolves and Coventry and has been happy to collect splinters provided he also collected his wages. When he did eventually move, it was to his hometown club, suggesting he wouldn't want to move away.

I was expecting the same, at 3-0 Dons rolled over and a good time to get those that need a run out on and a good opportunity to get a confidence boosting goal. Hopefully as Britt can't play in Bury Fred and Baz can get 45 mins each and see who wants it more.

I sold him to AFC Dons on FM13. Maybe he would go there? :winking:

Sums up the situation perfectly,IMO Fred would struggle in sunday football against pub players,Clearly lost his drive and seems happy to get paid whilst offering little in return.

I would put Eastwood in the same category as others who have played for the Blues. Michael Ricketts, Jimmy Corbett and Scott Spencer. All were in big money transfers at one time but drifted into obscurity, allegedly because of their attitude and/or lack of fitness.

I disagree. There's absolutely no doubting Freddy's a top quality striker .... his 1st touch is awesome , link up play is class + is strong + the fans still remember 7 years ago ... However ... i just dont see him fitting into our style of play so i think he would , for the sake of his career , be better suited to another club. We clearly prefer a combination of big man / players chasing everything + not giving defenders a moments rest. This is working very very well + our midfield compliments this method. There are many other teams who could build a team around the likes of Eastwood ( + benyon for that matter ) to finish off things + be a star goalscorer.

Paul Sturrocks way is different + as we see by his career results ,he is very successful at this . I think Eastwood could easily cut it at Championship / Div 1 level if he gets his mojo back . But for that to happen he needs to be in a place where he gets a game every week + feels wanted. I would much prefer another striker in our squad who fits the bill for our style ie. a hardworking , big , quick, goalscorer type player. Simples .

With the back to 7 on the bench there is places in match squads for most of the guys on our books these days. And when an injury/illness/family crisis or a combination of all 3, plus some yellow/red card builds up we will be using/needing all that we have. NO ONE should be going out on loan on top of the two already out to chump teams.

Thats a bit strong, Corbett, Spencer, Ricketts done nothing for Southend, Eastwoodhas maybe been one of the best players ever to play for Southend

I'm sorry, comparing Eastwood to people such as Spencer & Ricketts is an insult to one of our best and most influential players of the past decade.

Whether he is suited to us at the moment or whether he is still the player he was is a completely different debate.

People speaking about Freddy as if he is a nobody need their heads testing.

It's a squad game, and currently he is getting game time, why are we not having the same conversation about all the others in the same boat?

Andy Thorne Freds Coventry manager at that time, Said " He is a good kid but he is a passenger at this club,His fitness is nowhere near what it should be,He has to find another club"

Explains plenty.
