Football Manager 2011

Thought I'd start one as Blackpool and bash out a quick season.

Transfers In
Jose Baxter @ 2.8m - One for the future, turned down Chelsea for me
Cedric Bakambu @ 190k Loan - Was cheaper to get him on loan with a £3.4m future fee than pay £6m upfront. Looks like a cracking player and will sign permanently in my 3rd season.
Vincius @ Free - Good CB backup with cheap wages, sold in 2nd season for 850k.
Christian Benitez @ £1.4m - Due to his injury at the start of the season and DJ Campbell scoring 12 in the first couple of month, took his time to settle, but now banging them in for fun.
Sergey Krivets @ £2m - Can play anywhere across the midfield and as a winger. Young and has a lot of potential.
Fausto Pinto @ £1.4m - Good LB and quite cheap for his ability.
Olexandr Kucher @ £1.3m - Experienced CB but never settled and was sold for £1.7m in the next season.
Adberrahman Kabous @ Free - Brilliant player for nothing, but was mainly a rotational and he didn't like it, sold for 775k in the next season.
Gai Assulin @ Free - Starts with a nasty injury, so had to wait a few months, but he is making progress when on loan out.
Neuton @ Free in January - young CB who could be a star, regular first teamer now.
Miguel Amado @ Free in January - Great player to get on a free, and adapted extremely well.
Dennis Appiah @ £3m - MUST BUY! A young RB with massive potential, Man City want him at the moment and will be tough to keep him.
Alex Sandro @ £5.5m - Versatile full-back with a lot of potential.
Total = £18m

Transfers Out = £9.25m + massive wages off.

Finished 10th in my first season, and now looking to get into the Euro spots.

Second Season

Transfers In
Was given £22m to spend to get into the Euro spots.
Bruno Zuculini @ £3.5m - Potentially amazing DM, hasn't played much but Arsenal want him.
Connor Wickham @ £3m - Back-up ST and has scored 2 in 4 already.
Bogdan Stancu @ £4m - Can play up front or behind the striker, had a poor start but scored 2 in last 3 games.
David Hoilett @ £4m - Cracking winger, who can score some important goals, including a last minute winner against Blackburn.
Manoel @ £8.5m - Might seem a lot for a young CB, but this kid is brilliant and is being tracked by some top European clubs
Guillermo Ochoa @ £3.5m - MUST BUY! Cheap for his abilities and he is a regular 7+ performer, recently got a 9.1 in a 1-1 draw with Arsenal.
David Rousillon @ Free - One for the future, on loan and making some progress.
Pichu Atienza @ Free - Another one for the future who is out on loan.
Alan Patrick @ £4.5m - Great CM who has potential to be big.
David Petrucci @ Free - Another one for the future, hopefully.
Marc Muniesa @ £2m - Cracking younster who is out getting experience and doing well.
Rob Groot @ £2.2m - A young RB who is out on loan, could replace Appiah, if he decides he wants to leave.
Ilsinho @ Free - At the end of his contract and is a cracking player to have. Can pay at full back or on the wing.
Total = £36m

Transfers Out = £15m
Notable sales were DJ Campbell for £3.5m, not needed when I have Benitez, Wickham and Stancu, Charlie Adam for £3.3m, sadly I couldn't get £10m from Liverpool ;).

About half way through my 2nd season and I'm 3rd in the premiership (9 off 2nd and 12 off unbeaten Arsenal, who have scored 46 and conceded 6).

I have the second best defensive record, only conceding 9 goals in 18 games, but a poor scoring record, with 20 goals in 18 games, which should rise when Benitez is back from a long injury suffered on international duty.

10 of my players are wanted and it will be tough to get them to stay until the end of the season.

Van Persie is destroying the league with 19 goals in just 17 games.
Ivan Rakitic is the league's top assister, with 10 after a free transfer to Arsenal.

Did you give yourself extra cash as i dont think Blackpool get 8.75million to start? not saying you cheated just saying on my game i started with like 500k?

Using the 11.2 patch, and got given £4m to stay in the premiership, and with getting rid of massive wages (like Harewood on £10k p/w) and getting younger players on cheap wages, I changed the wages-transfer budgets.

Also, they let me change my aims half way through the season, which gave me an extra £5-6m to spend on players.

Latest news is that a bug that causes the game to randomly crash still hasn't been fixed and the think it will be unlikely that it will be released by the end of this week and will be realistically released next week.

Right, thought I'd fun with a smallish premier league team, took Wigan and won the league, now into second season, and time to register the team for the Champions League, but there in lies my problem. I seem to have only 3 players trained at the club (I need 4), surely the youth team would have been trained at the club. Anyone had this problem before? I can't continue the game otherwise, any help gratefully received

Surely the youth team will be already added as they are under 21 (or whatever the age is).

Yeah it says I don't have to register them as they are U-21, but I have no other way of continuing the game with 4 players trained at the club ruling

I've had it before when i haven't got enough home grown players, the only way i could continue is by leaving the spaces in the squad.

It should be as long as you have enough empty spaces in your squad so if you had 2 team trained players and 4 home grown players then you would need 4 spare spaces to continue i believe.

@JamesTheSuperBlue - Just got the latest patch off Steam and checked the Southend stats in the editor - Wow, you're weren't kidding about downgrading the Southend players! I think you were right though...in my current game SUFC went up as Champions first season with 97 points with the old player stats. Looking forward to a real challenge next time I start a new game...

Exactly.....it was far too easy to take them up before the data update and that for me was too unrealistic. As much as I want to boost all of their ratings, I can't do that, and the Average Current Ability rating for the whole squad fits perfectly into Sports Interactive's guideline Average CA rating for a League 2 side in 8th-13th place at this stage of the season.

Wasn't an across the board drop, of course......Blair Sturrock, Ryan Hall, Kane Ferdinand and Sean Clohessy all got deserved CA increases as they were too low. However the rest of the squad bar a couple got minor decreases. All fits much better now. I had no control over the ratings of Sawyer and Cominges though and won't be allowed to touch them til the summer.
