Football Manager 2011

managing southend is like the real thing, everyones contracts are running out, over budget and no cash what so ever for players, cant even get moussa back on loan and that is with leicester paying his wages, he dosnt fancy going back to the hall, even worse i am 4th from bottom at the end of january.

Managing SUFC on this is a real challenge, everyone's on year contracts, starting on an already overspent wage budget, no transfer budget. No-one seems to even consider going near the Hall; Kevin Maher even rejecting the top wages I could offer after negotiating a free transfer for him.
For me:
Date: 28th October 2010 (not had much of a chance to play)
League Position: 2nd (1 game in hand, 1 point behind 1st, League 2)
Transfers in: Pele (free transfer), Rodrigue Dikaba (free transfer), Nicholas Bignall (season loan from Reading), Joe Lolley (free transfer), Devann Yao (free transfer)
Transfers out: Blair Sturrock (released)
Formation: 4-3-1-2
Top Scorer: Nicholas Bignall (10 goals)
Preferred Line-Up:
Glenn Morris
Rodrigue Dikaba, Mark Phillips, Bilel Mohsni, Chris Barker
Louie Soares, Anthony Grant, Sofiane Zaaboub
Josh Simpson
Nicholas Bignall, Barry Corr
Subs: Rhys Evans, Graham Coughlan, Johnny Herd, Craig Easton, Devann Yao, Matt Paterson, Harry Crawford

Interesting fact, Joe Lolley, my young left winger I signed as back-up for Zaaboub as Hall has a long term injury and I'm looking to sell, is the lowest paid player on a professional contract at £80p/w and has made 2 starts and 5 sub appearances for me. Fortunately, extended the contracts of the spine of my team for an extra year at not too high a cost which has eased the pressure a bit but I still have about 10/15 players whose contracts are due to run out in the summer and will have to find a replacement for Simpson in his trequartarista role as he's rejected a permanent deal and an extended loan stay but got my eye on a few young Prem players who will hopefully fill that roll.

Promoted in first year and top after 10 games in league 1

Found a few free gems and some belting loan players - Ravel Morrison from Man Utd is superb playing in attacking midfield just behind front 2. Well worth grabbing on loan - scores goals for fun!

If anyone wants anymore suggestions let me know!

Im midway thru my first season as Barca, and i have to say my strangest signing has been Jermain Defoe on loan for the season.

After splashing out nearly all my starting money on signing Mehmet Ozil from rivals Real madrid (the fans werent happy at first, but have soon warmed), i decided i wanted to play Messi just behind a front two, but after two friendlies decided Bojan and co were ****, and that Villa alone couldnt see me through the season. I asked my coaches to see who i could loan, and surprisingly Defoes name came up. Needless to say the Spurs fans were very unhappy, but the boy has done splendidly for me, and is a fan favourite.
Fortunately the ever affluent Barca board have released some more funds for transfers, and Mr Defoe will be joining permanently in July, and at a reduced price.

In other news David Villa hates me and my team-talks, and Dani Alves loves a booking, but hates me telling him he's a knob for doing so.

For Southend, Amazing Center Midfiedler, Get Oliver Norwood on Loan for the season, Then He gets released at the end of the year anyway so you can snap him up pretty cheap.

Second that. Signed him after my first season in league 2. Has been fans player of the year in following 3 seasons and is now heading for the same gong as we go in to the final stretch of 2015 with the prospect of promotion into prem (sittin in 5th)

Would also recommend Paul McGowan. Struck 38 goals in league 1 alone, in my promotion winning year.

I've only just started the league season, but Rhys Murphy looks like a good striker on loan, scored 4 on his debut (used the "I have faith" team talk at HT and it worked wonders!).

Anyone got any tips on how to get rid of players? Got rid of a few, but not much success with the rest.

Use "offer to clubs" but in first season no-one will want to leave as they have all been signed.

To all that have this and the latest patch. Is it worth getting? I have FM10 and have bought the last 3 years versions but have read reviews for this years version and to some people it is not as good. I kind of want to try and take over a struggling southend side in league 2 as it would be in FM11 but i can easily get the latest editor database and load it into last years game.

I would say it's better than FM10. The host of new additions have, for me, made it the biggest step forward in 3 or so years.

I do try to be as realistic as possible with the data when I do it!

It will be even harder when the next patch is released. A lot of our new players came, in my view, overrated on the game but at the time I had no justification for lowering since, in SI's view, I wouldn't have seen them play enough. Now that I have, some 15 players have taken CA decreases and only 4 or 5 have taken increases.

Can you refrain from ruining it for us?

Saying that, I doubt I'll be Southend again on this version. I eventually stopped playing the game in 2022, having won the Prem with SUFC for the first time. Not been anyone else since, not played it in a while.

Yeah that's basically the same as my seasons!

Another good Loan Signing is Magnus Eikrem from United as well! Brilliant Attacking Midfielder who assists in many games, scores a lot of goals to, But you cant really get him until your up in League1.

Is Mohsni going to be immence??

Thought I'd start one with Hinckley and take them up the leagues, looked at my reserves and was shocked.

Go to this player : Leigh Platnauer ..... and look at his injury.

Back Strain ..... Expected to be out for 18 to 19 months

That is right, 2 and a half years!

I'm thinking of having a little play about on the editor. Keep Southend in League 2, but transfer back some of the players who played big roles in the glory years between 2004 and 2008/2009. So I'd like some suggestions from people on squad members. I'm thinking 2 players for GK, DR, DL, MR and ML and 4 players for DC, MC and ST.

So as a first go:

GK: Flahavan, Mildenhall.
DR: Francis, Jupp, Hunt.
DL: Hammell, Wilson.
DC: Barrett, Clarke, Prior, Sodje.
Wingers: Gower, Campbell-Ryce.
MC: Maher, McCormack, Bailey, Bentley.
ST: Eastwood, Barnard, Gray, Goater, Bradbury.

I haven't included any players who played at SUFC on loan but I'm open to the idea of having former loanees in there. Perhaps Dervite or Robinson or Federici are worthy of places?
