Question First goal you witnessed live

Cup game at Somerton Park.
My dad took me when I was about 9. In around 1954.
Think we lost by 7...
Danny Blanchflower scored from a free kick.
Lovely hot dog on our way home. Sausage meet and onions.

My first game was Southend v Bristol City in November 1963. Result was 1 - 1, no idea who scored our goal, perhaps someone would be kind enough to tell me.

Fairly sure Peter Goy, Peter Watson, Lou Costello and Sandy Anderson played I think. John Mckinven and Tony Bentley probably played as well. Was only 9 at the time !

cant remember the first Southend goal i witnessed but im sure it would have been either ROY HOLLIS or Sam McCrory wouldnt have a video of it as back then was no such thing as cellphones or internet

Dave Regis against Sheffield United in 1995. I was in the East stand Blue seats so got a good look at it. Steve Tilson scored in the second half. I think that Sheff Utd manager Bassett had previously said bad things about Southend before the game so it was nice to beat them even more.

Southend v Crewe August 1969. We won 2-0... Gary Moore scored the first I think... don't remember it.

You're right. John Baber scored the second. Good crowd of 8691 too (including me!).

First goal I saw was Johnny McKinven's against Crewe on the 17th March 1967 . The first hatrick was the following season in a 5-1 win against Chester on the 8th March , by who else King Billy Best .

I think it was at home to Darlington 2003/2004 from Mark Gower. A come back victory I believe and that was the last goal out of the five, but that’s the first goal I can genuinely remember.

Easter Monday. Two down after half an hour. Bentley, Constantine scored before that late winner. Our equaliser and winning goals were scored after they had been reduced to 10 men. Drewe Broughton played for us, but, to even things out, Barry Conlon played for them.
