Question First goal you witnessed live

My first game was Christmas 1958 - we beat Stockport - can`t remember a thing about it. Was taken by my Uncle Mike who sadly passed away at the age of 93 on Saturday.

Cannot remember my first goal though - must have been sometime after that

@GrumpyBlue He took you to a good match 'Grumpy':

Saturday 27th December 1958

Southend United 3 - 1 Stockport County
Southend United Scorers: McCrory, Costello, Houghton
Attendance: 15,315

RIP Uncle Mike

City Ground, 1996, Nottingham Forest -v- Liverpool. Steve Stone scored into an empty net after Stuart Pearce thundered one from outside the box that David James couldn’t hold.

Collymores first game back at Forest after leaving. Booed every time he went near the ball. Was all too much for him that day, but what an atmosphere!!
Blimey, I was at that game!. Poor old Stan copped it big time throughout from the Forest fans.

First game was 28/8/61: Southend 2-2 Portsmouth.
Apparently, Jimmy Fryatt scored for a 1-0 lead at half-time, according to Peter Mason's book. John McKinven, the second, and fairly sure it was the leveller after Ron Saunders (later Villa manager) scored both for Pompey: att: 12,935!
My actual memory is the Fryatt goal went in at the South Bank end.

I'm the same sadly, my actual first game was goalless, & I can't remember the next!! (Though I also remember being at that 7-0, standing behind the south bank goal.)

I see the next home game after that Exeter 0-0 was Jan. 14 67 Halifax at home & we won 1-0, someone tell me who scored the winner & that well could be my first 😄

The first I truly remember, now standing behind the North Bank goal, slightly to the right, was Billy Best v Brentwood in the cup a year later, hopefully the first in that ridiculous five goal spell in the last 18 minutes!! (My mind is telling me a header?)
Yes TSG you are correct Billy Best's first 3 goals were all headers. Ironically all 4 goals scored by Gary Moore were also headers. Sammy McMillan scored in the 35 minute in the first half but NOT with a header, as were the final 2 goals scored by Bestie in the 88th & 89th minutes. The Southend Standard headline that week called it "The Massacre at Roots Hall" with Five for Best and Four for Moore. Certainly an unforgetable time for being a Shrimper's Fan.

Do no what I'm not quite sure. As I go back to Man City v Southend which was 0 0. So possibly Roy Hollis scoring sometime in the 50s

I dont recall the exact fixture. (Was only 7) Although i do remember it was an evening game, Cadette scored, and i met Bobby Moore in the directors box after.

Felt electric.

Pretty hard not to be a lifelong fan after that 😃

My first goal live was Southport April 77 I think ..we won 4. 2 ....my earliest memory was Steve Goodwin scoring the winner v crewe must have been August 77

Billy Best in the 5 - 1 demolition of Chesterfield 21st April 1973.

Actual first live pro goal i witnessed was Trevor Francis for Birmingham v Coventry Boxing day 1972.
