Hateful 8

Really enjoyed it, one that Tarrantino fans will love and those not so keen will probably hate. Pretty much 3 hrs in a cabin with not much happening except dialogue, but there is no one better at this sort of film. A solid 8/10 for me

It's had mixed reviews, but I like Tarantino when he does those dialogue scenes (start of Inglorious Basterds, some bits in Django). It's also got a new Morricone soundtrack which gets me moist. Will check it out.

The soundtrack is epic, right from the beginning as soon as Morricone's name comes up on the credits it explodes! Must watch in cinema for that reason. SLJ has some great sections of dialogue, if you like the Waltz opening dialogue in Basterds then I think you'll enjoy this.

Star Wars
7.0/10
I was personally really disappointed after reading the reviews stating it was as good as the first films. The story is far to rushed, Keylo Ren was awful, Carrie Fischer looks like she doesn't want to be there. My son ( 17) thought it was crap. I liked the nods to the first film as everyone says but was not blown away.

terminator Genisys
7.5/10.
This was much much better than I expected (maybe that influenced the score), Its a little bit like the force awakens in going back to the original , only they do it better. Arnie is actually very very good (lets face it, he was made for the part). Yes the plot makes no sense re time travel, but if that snnoys you then you would never have watched the first two anyway. Lots of nods to the first filsm, but done better than Star wars--IMO.

CSA Confederate states America.

Mockumentary film based on a timeline, if the Confederacy had won the American civil war.

Genuinely didn't know what to make of it, but felt uncomfortable at times watching it.

It's on you tube so free to watch, be interested to hear others views.

I guess Obama would never of been President....:whistling:

The Lion King - first time I've seen it. Jolly good indeed. 8/10

On a similar note - Disney and all that - we watched the original Sleeping Beauty last weekend. Striking how scary some of the earlier Disney films are - my daughter came for cuddles a couple of times as she didn't like what she was seeing. A lovely film all the same 7/10.

The Lion King isn't that old, but even still it's quite graphic - some animals can talk (lions/baboons/meerkats/warthogs) some are food! These days everyone gets on and is probably a vegetarian.

Yeah, the scene where Simba's dad dies doesn't pull many punches.

Over Christmas we also watched Pinocchio. Wonderful film, but the young boys smoking cigars and drinking beer - imagine a film showing that these days.

Also, it has a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes!

The blind side
true story about a black kid from the wrong side of the tracks ( Michael Oher) who is taken in and adopted by a rich white family . He does well at school and goes on to play professional American football.
7/10
Sandra BUllock very very good (won an oscar) and looks great (understatement)

Goosebumps - Brilliant CGI and Jack Black is very, very good as one of the lead characters. PG rating and kids will love the storyline which I'm not going to spoil by telling you about. Us adults also thoroughly enjoyed it. 8/10.

The Revenant - Outstanding cinematography and performance from Leonardo DiCaprio. A must see film. 9/10

Joy - Wasn't actually looking forward to this but the missus was bu to my surprise I thoroughly enjoyed it and found myself really getting into the characters and the story. Jennifer Lawrence is very easy on the eye too, which helped lol 7/10

Tomorrowland - Love my sci fi and loved this. Great CGI and a story line that I don't believe has been done before. Highly recommended 8/10

Danny Boyle's Steve Jobs.Michael Fassbinder was excellent in the title role and should win another Oscar for this.

What business people don't get about SJ's is that he was a driven, perfectionist who didn't give a monkey's about just making money.
