Films you've watched recently.

I posted this a little while ago but it's worth a repeat.

Spotlight - 9.5/10

A truly absorbing film from start to finish with some excellent performances, especially from Mark Ruffalo. I got hold of a BlueRay pre release screener and cast it to the TV and it's one of those films that makes no difference what size screen it's watched on. It's all about the story, the script and the actors and all three in this are spot on.

A must see and highly recommended.

cool, i'll do the same i think. looks great.

Well apart from the two films she made before Billy Liar...I won't make the obvious response to this!

I walked past a shop selling Fahrenheit 451 the other day for a fiver - I regret not buying it now.

Not even close to being Schlesinger's firrst either - He did A Kind of Loving before it for a start!

Ah My bad.Didn't check before posting. Have seen the other two films you mention (have them on DVD in fact). They're both excellent.

Edit:"Christie's breakthrough film role was in Billy Liar (1963)".

Notice that BL was JS second "fiction" film after AKOL and the documentary short Terminus.

Incredible film. The story is just staggering and the way it's pieced together into 2hrs and the cast is just exceptional. Might have to give it 10/10.

"The Rack Pack" - A decent little film, even if your not into Snooker, like me. You get a straightforward insight into how Barry Hearn and Steve Davis came onto the scene and made the sport grow to massive heights. Also delves into the rivalry between Steve Davis and 'Hurricane' Higgins. Not a bad film.

7.3/10

Gave this a mention in the TV thread, but as BTS pointed out, it is a film, so I should probably post my rating here! 7.5/10

Saw Paolo Sorrentino's Youth earlier.Even Michael Caine and Harvey Keitel's talents couldn't save this turkey.Far too slow and more than a tad pretenious.

Obviously should have gone to see Spotlight.

Black Mass - 8/10 - Very enjoyable film with a great cast. Johnny Depp is brilliant and if you didn't know he was in it you would spend a lot of time working out who the actor is. Interesting true story and great to watch.

Creed - 7/10 - The lead performances were great (Especially Michael B Jordan), and the fight scenes were some of the best I've seen in boxing. Sadly the rest of the story and plot didn't quite hang together, and I found the direction a little off. Decent music though and Rocky fans will love it I'm sure.

STARS WHORES THE FORCE AWAKENS,killed a couple of hours i suppose and was good to see so many people in the flicks even after all this time but was i the only one who laughed at the ending?6/10
