Breaking News Facilities Update - North Bank (NWQ) X block now open

Enough said from Kev. Let's grab the opportunity to create a proper atmosphere at RH. If you like a good old sing song, get yourself in the NB when available.

3:47pm
On a big crowd, Maher says: "Charlton will bring a big following as I know we've opened up more of the ground. But if we can get our fans in there eventually and back in the North Bank that would be brilliant and my biggest wish. Saturday will be a great atmosphere and one our fans will relish."
Even Maher knows of the North Bank’s advantages to create an atmosphere.. the more supporters we can get in there, the better. It’s a shame we can’t place away fans in the corner but I hope we can open up more of the NB with lower away followings

The problem with rebuilding is if it's a different - non barreled, high 'open' roof then you're not going to get the noise.

I'd like to see it just safe standing as is, with some better toilets and a bar somewhere.

And agree I'm not sure it will be succesful as a allocated seated area - as you say been done before and didn't work

Depends on the rebuild tbh. Barnets away end generates loads of noise.

What I don’t get though is that people are saying they won’t relocate to the NB because the view is crap, yet when we go away and get allocated the terrace behind the goal, the atmosphere is electric.
I get that away games are always going to be packed with more atmosphere as we’re all penned in together but surly the blue voice could relocate to the NB, stand and sing.
I’m sure it would fill the Hall with such a great atmosphere for the players and suck the ball into the back of the net.
I don’t care if view was crap, I rather we make noise and ensure the players hear the noise and make it scary for the away opponents.

We went back in there a number of times 10-15 years ago and would agree that the atmosphere wasn’t any different/better.

But with the South Lower often being the only place with seats available for the better selling games. Having an extra 1,400 tickets available in a better area can only be a good thing.

Having said that, given the lack of tickets elsewhere. A lot of the North Bank tickets could end up being picked up by non-regulars, who are probably going to want to sit down, and are less inclined to want to help create an atmosphere. Could cause some issues as the club probably aren’t allowed to advertise it as a standing area.
Was it really that long ago when we had a few games in the North?

Agreed it wasn’t brilliant, but if I recall correctly not many of us actually moved over. I can recall having lots of room standing to the right of the goal (west side facing the pitch)

I seem to recall seeing fans in North during Covid, beating Col U on Boxing Day? Social distancing was in operation so everyone was spaced out. Really not a good sample size in terms of the North Bank atmosphere.

Why? What were they on, was it just s really **** match?

Sorry, I’m sure this has been asked/explained before… when there is a big gate does the club benefit from increased food and drink sales or are those outlets run as concessions at a fixed rate per season ?

If I remember right we was in there in our play off loss to crew. When the late Chris barker scored but we lost atmosphere was great that day. W block feels like it’s got flatter since the take over imo

Give em a bit of time - probably needs a tweak to the ticketing system to bring that area back into being available - and they've been abit busy with the Charlton fixture
