FA Trophy Round 5 Southend United vs Sittingbourne.

Fantastic reports on the 1922 games. Thank you DofDTS. I’m sure Sittingbourne would love a copy if they haven’t already got it. Their website has the match prices.

We have been drawn away to Southend United who are one of the strongest teams left in the Isuzu FA Trophy and are 14th in the Vanarama Conference League. Ticket prices will be: Adult (23+) =£15.00, Concession ( Senior 61+, Young adults, 17-22), emergency Services and disabled) =£10.00, Junior=£5. 8 and Under=£3.00. Tickets will be sold through the Southend United web site. We will be running coaches to this match. Information later.

Ticket prices not bad and it should be a bigger gate than the Southport match, with the closer proximity of Sittingbourne. 14 miles as the crow flies, 60 ish by road.

Perfect old style local away game for them. Couple of pints in the local, depart with duty driver away by 11, into Southend for a dts and footy at 3.

Oh the memories!

I sent it to them on their Faceache page.

Sittingbourne on Saturday. They like to Shoot……..!

Obviously only a short clip. They do like a shot don't they?

they cut in from the wings frequently too. Their forwards have a bit of pace.

They seem to clear long, so we could pick up a lot of possession in and around the halfway line to start building. Starving them of possession should be right up our street.

Floodlights at Sittingbourne only marginally worse than ours!
What a great tie for both them and us. Should generate plenty of interest in Kent. Everything to play for. Aaron McLean picked it out as a great tie immediately after the draw was made. But what a huge difference in prize money compared with the FA Cup proper.

Heard that GF and Aaron McLean also made some very nice comments about us as a club too, without coming across as patronising.

I did enjoy those highlights. The keeper in pink was very dodgy, hilarious. I notice the long throw tactic too. I actually thought apart from the keepers the football didn't look much different to us.

I'm old enough to remember Sutton United who were non league beating top flight Coventry in 89. Coventry having won the cup only 2 years before. So let's not count our chickens just yet.

A decent draw and what the cup is all about. Playing teams you'd never normally play.

They may be decent in their own league but should be easily dispatched of we take the game seriously and play a strong side. Given the side we played against southport, I can't see us not taking this game seriously.

Fitness will play a big part.

I hope the club opens more stands and tries for a decent crowd.

I wonder what the record is for a tie in this competition?
Fair play, everyone's entitled to a change of heart.
For the Southport tie we shouldn't be risking first choice players for a meaningless tinpot trophy ?

The magic of the cup eh !

They do indeed like to shoot. They don't seem too bothered if they're not on target either. That's not to be mean, I think that's a good thing. They're prepared to have a go. Once is a while they'll get lucky, like the highlights show when the 'keeper spilled one that was on target.

The only other observation from me is **** me, those floodlights are ****. No wonder the 'keeper spilled the shot, he probably couldn't see the ball.
