Breaking News F.A Cup 1st Round draw. Southend United vs Charlton Athletic

MK Dons V Wimbledon
Harrogate V Wrexham
Sutton V Birmingham
Tamworth V Huddersfield
Curzon Ashton V Mansfield

Not necessarily saying these games ‘beat’ ours. But they’re more likely to be picked.
Other than the first one can’t see why. Not saying you won’t be proved right but in terms of NL verses L1 bigger crowd, bigger atmosphere and local derby’ish, bigger fan base across the two teams than all the others..

Because the media are obsessed with Wrexham. I agree it’s a dull tie, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they pick it anyway.

I completely get that.

However, without bias, and just with divisions between them. Surely a NL side at home to a L1 side, with a potential cup shock (no matter how small) is a more attractive fixture than a L2 vs L1?

The away team have to be allocated 15% for the away fans. With current restrictions in place, does what is currently available in the North Bank come to 15% of the total capacity?

15% has to be allocated even if they don’t fill it.
That currently would mean leaving more home seats unsold? Surely we could appeal that on H&S grounds and on the basis our stadium is falling down?

Wrexham and Birmingham will likely be selected due to the potential viewing figures they would generate, especially as they are away and therefore plenty of their supporters won’t be able to get tickets.

But outside of those two, plus MK vs AFC Wimbledon, I think our tie is as attractive as any others. Two divisions apart, National League side at home, local, and there’s a narrative about what the fanbases of both clubs have had to endure.

Potential problems for COSU. I don’t know how quick a fix could be to get more of the North Bank open to meet the allocation.

If it’s not doable by the start of November, where do they allocate the rest? Then that means not selling certain seats in the home end for segregation.

A nice problem to have mind, just hope something can be sorted ASAP.

Well, the hope was for a small team to make it through. But, if it couldn’t be the first option then that’s a god draw. Could have been a middle of the road league 2 club which turned into a boring low capacity affair. At least we can get excited about a top league one club coming to town in a competitive fixture and really pack the Hall.

Wonder when tickets will go on sale?

We really could not of asked for a Better draw

At Home v a club that will sell out away section , we should see 8000 plus gate

Our Club needs the money and Charlton will be there for the taking IMHO
