Essex Cricket 2024

The Essex bowling attack doing what the Essex bowling attack does. Warwickshire 88/9 now. Let’s just hope the batting picks back up for the 2nd innings.

More than possible. Essex now the strong favourite. With William Hills, Essex now 1/3 to win, with Warwickshire 9/4.
Obviously hoping that we can pull off an unlikely win today (thanks Warwickshire for not enforcing the follow-on😁,) I don't however like the term favourites, let alone 'strong favourites.' We all know that cricket is a funny game and an early wicket this morning could well bring about a few more in quick succession. It's an old cliché but the first hour will be critical, especially how we withstand the new ball, which will soon be available. A win would not only be important in terms of points but a huge boost to the morale as we head towards the summer break for the Championship.

You may not like the term but it is true! But I do understand what you mean, it is in a delicate position if a wicket falls early. One wicket brings in Pepper, two into the bowlers. The Essex tail hasn't wagged much this season.

Would be a phenomenal win if they complete victory today, but simultaneously a disappointment from this position if they fail to do so.
