Essex Cricket 2013

Shah and RTS are enjoying counting their rupees in the IPL whilst we are having yet another bad start to the season.RTS can be excused but Shah is a money grabbing mercenary who has no loyalties to Essex.

Who Essex signed knowing that he'd be playing IPL.

That signing makes even less sense when Essex will have known that RtD would be playing IPL and there was a good chance Ravi would as well.

Was he signed as a ready-made excuse?

Or was he signed because the club only care about T20 as they need to make up for the shortfall in the budget caused by scrapping the profitable Southend festival?

And now Rob Quiney out for 3 months with shoulder injury and Cookies gone back to the day job.

Westley to be joined at the top of the order by Mickleburgh with Ravi and Petts at 3 & 4.

Now Glamorgan have reached 175 there's a good chance we'll be following on with our batting line-up.

Greg Smith at 6 :nope:

Signed Hamish Rutherford - had a decent couple of games against England in the winter...

First good signing since Masters.

YB - took Smith at 6 from Cricinfo. Hope it's not true. I'd put Napier and Phillips above him too.

Essex 10/2 trying to reach 81 to avoid the follow-on, could be a struggle. Masters keeps getting out before the close as nightwatchman, perhaps Phillips should do it as he hasn't spent the rest of the day trying to bowl out the opposition.
