Well its all pretty open now.

Good wins for Surrey & Essex this evening.

1 Hampshire 12 9 1 0 2 0.98 18.0
2 Somerset 13 5 4 0 4 1.05 14.0
3 Sussex 12 6 4 0 2 0.49 14.0
4 Essex 13 6 5 0 2 -0.04 14.0
5 Kent 12 6 4 0 2 -0.44 14.0
6 Surrey 12 5 4 0 3 0.07 13.0

Div 1 is a lot tougher than div 2 (aka the North).

I feel for Glamorgan and Gloucestershire for being stuck in this division year after year. Arguably the top 6 sides in the comp are in the south section, maybe 6 of the top 8 in it, but even so the two sections are so unbalanced on quality.

Sussex buggered up their run-chase badly tonight. Annoying as I backed them at the interval at 3/1.

How did Sussex stuff that up!? Amateurs! Got Hamp**** on Weds on their spinners track, so that wont do us too many favours and if we win that ill be shocked!

I'm expecting a loss on Wednesday, leaving us with 2 games left, both at home (against Glamorgan and then a big one against Kent). Think we will need to beat Glam and Kent and hope some results go our way or we nick it on run rate (another important aspect of last nights result).

As there are so many in the mix, there will invariably be some fixtures against each other for the other top teams, and hopefully Gloc can get something from someone.

Is exciting stuff though this T20!

Pretty much agree with you. However if somebody could kidnap BLUEBLOOD for a few days and keep him away from Chelmsford then I'm sure Essex will reach the Quarter Final.

Well it's a chance for Adam Wheater he's already scored a big first class ton, now we'll see how well he'll do in T20.

Who's our vice captain?

I think it's Bopara.

Foster's been banned from First Class games rather than T20 (and Wheater's been playing in recent T20 games - he's been opening and seemingly scoring 17 off 10 balls or similar each time)

Cricinfo seem to think it is for the 20/20 tomorrow and Friday against Hampshire and Glamorgan. Terrible news if so as his keeping, especially up to the stumps really adds a lot to our twenty twenty. I guess Bops may not play tomorrow as England are playing...... As I said above, I think tomorrow is a loss anyway, but we need to win on Friday to set up a decider against Kent. Weather not looking good for Friday though.

Oops, must have misread it as it now says it's for two First XI games, not two First Class games.

I suspect this is punishment for Essex wanting to maintain the current 20:20 format. Because of that, Essex are being paid compensation for the fixture list being reduced next season - that's £5,000 off of that then!

Im hoping for rain tonight and a point against Hampshire (though wonder what that would do to Fozzie's ban?).

Anyone know what all these incidents are.....Ive seen Fozzie square up to the Welch the other week at the end of the game, and of course we got docked for a slow overrate on saturday....but two game ban is quite excessive so there must ahve been a few more incidents.

One was Tendo bowling two accidental beamers.
One was Fozzie querying whether he should be out to a beamer.

The other three were last season and were Tony Palladino and Grant Flower, neither who are still at the club.

The only comment I have to make about County Cricket this season is that every last home counties side is utter dog****.

Unless Kent beat Essex next week, in which case I'll have a lot to say for myself :winking:

Sadly my prediction for a loss last night was proved right as the rain and a revised total couldn't save us from failing to score heavily enough. Sadly other results have been going against us for the past week (ie Middlesex, Glouc and Glam not beating any of our rivals), and it really does look like we have a tough task to get through.

Hampshire 13 20
Somerset 14 16
Kent 13 16
Sussex 12 14
Essex 14 14
Surrey 12 13
Glamorgan 12 8
Gloucestershire 12 7
Middlesex 12 4

We are going to have to win both of our games to give ourselves any chance. That would put us on 18 points. If we beat Kent in our last game then they will still only need to win 1 of their other 2 games left to be level with us and it come down to run rate. Somerset need 1 win out of 2 to be level but are far ahead of us on run rate. Sussex, whose form is stuttering need to win 2 out of 4, and Surrey 2 wins and a tie/draw out of 4 to go level. We need to come above 2 of those.

We have Glamorgan and Kent to play.
Kent play Sussex, us and Surrey
Surrey have Middlesex, Hampshire Kent and Sussex
Sussex have Glamorgan, Kent Hampshire and Surrey

Actually looking at those fixtures, as they are largely playing each other I struggle to see what combo of results will see us go through. I guess we either want Kent to win their games against Surrey and Sussex and those two implode, or Kent lose all their games and one of Surrey or Sussex implode, with them losing to Middlesex and Glamorgan. Not sure Im that confident, but a big win on Friday wont do us any harm.

Well, Glamorgan are giving it a go. Following a miserable total of 132 from their twenty overs, they have reduced Sussex to 37-4 of six overs.

Well, giving it a go is often not quite good enough. Sussex have now moved onto 76-4 off twelve. Without more wickets VERY soon it looks as though Glamorgan are buggered.
