England v West Indies 1st Test

Onions gets another!! Oh dear! English County seamers called up for the May tests seem to do well.... Giddins, Richard Johnson, Ryan Sidebottom* are recent ones I can think of who had a stormer at the start of their careers without becoming thoroughbreds...

What are the commentators saying about the follow on? Usually when the lead is obtained this early the side doesnt enforce it....but surely if its swinging and the pitch will stay true it would be worth thinking about?

*Ignoring his first test 6 years earlier!

There's been plenty of others such as Richard Ellison, Neil Mallender, Tom Cartwright all picked because of their ability to bowl in English conditions none of whom with possible exception of Sidebottom played more than 10 tests.

Botham was adamant that England enforce the follow, whereas Hussain was questioning whether England should or shouldn't. Given what has happened in previous Lords matches when Sri Lanka & South Africa have followed on and saved the game I can understand if Strauss would have his doubts. However I don't think this WIndies side will have the heart to bat out at least two full days.

Onions certainly has a spring in his step.

Interesting stuff! An attacking option and no doubt the new regime wanting to signal it's intent. If the ball is swinging still, most bowlers still fairly fresh and with Bresnan not having bowled yet lets hope we make some early inroads. With a lead of 225 though I would have thought it likely the Windies will overhaul that amount and leave England with a chase. Lets hope its not too high!

Game over. 3 wickets for just 9 runs means i cant see us batting again. Onions has picked up from where he left off and has got 2 wickets.

LUNCHEON.
