Breaking News Danny Waldron joins Tamworth on loan for rest of season

It's easy to demand this or that player be given a go when things aren't great on the pitch, despite the fact that the people who make the decisions have way knowledge and evidence than we do as they see the players in training every day. There will be reasons that we're not privy to as to why they're deemed lesser options.

Good on KAF for his last few appearances, but until then, he'd generally looked no better than Terrell Egbri.....plenty of running, no substance. Hopefully he's finding some form now.

If Waldron had started v Altrincham and lost the ball cheaply and it to lead to us going 1-0 down.....Like he does when given his plenty of chances, including in the FA trophy when we lost.........Then the zone would be focused on Mayer out rather than "give Waldron a chance"

In fact Mayer would be copping stick for even signing him......The fine line of Management with certain section of fans. The difference is KAF wanted to prove a point, never witness that with Waldron. Thats how professional should perform.

There is certainly room for improvement and I hope he does against our rivals. As the loan is for the season, could he return for the play-offs?

Saying that, he scored a good goal of his own making and was back on the bench the following game, cant remember which game it was he scored in. I'd be suprised if he's still with us start of next season.

Not at all like Jack Wood !
Unlike him,Waldron showed definite signs that he might have solved our goalscoring problems if given the chance.Id have loved to have seen him given a run of starts alongside Bonne.
I thought he had something about him last season less so of late.
I hope he gains a bit of confidence and starts banging a few in against the teams around us.

KAF - was it Solihull away? Think he started that game, played pretty well.

Overall though, in his sub appearances since then, thought he has given the ball away cheaply at times and not been head and shoulders above our other midfielders. Seems as though he has improved in the last couple of games though

i just find it odd that you chase a player finally sign him and then not give him a reasonable chance just a few minutes off the bench occasionally.Someone said he scored 3 goals in 30 appearances , how many off those appearances were off the subs bench and how many games did he play the full 90 minutes .

This happens all the time in football. Nothing odd at all about this. The most obvious answer here is that the management team firmly believed DW would be able to make the transition from part-time to full-time which is why they signed him. But after seeing him everyday in training they decided that this was not the case and things had not developed in the way they hoped.

People simultaneously complain about mediocrity, being non-league, losing matches and the manager - and at the same time are wanting us to 'give players a chance' for the sake of it. Ridiculous.

We want to win the league next season. We need to shave off the worst 20% of this squad and try to sign players who will go into the best 20%. Waldron is indisputably in that worst 20% section.

Nothing against him - and he has a fantastic move here, suggesting he will be in demand in lower end of NL and top end NLN next season at worst - but we need better.

Gutted it hasn't worked out for Waldron. But always a million factors on why.

I trust the three amigos judgement on him, seeing him in training everyday. Just like Jack Wood.

Why is it always the players who's been left out are the answer to our problems. Always find it quite weird when people champion players like Waldron and Wood when they're clearly not good enough.

Well we did see class with Wood. Contender for goal of the season last year, and went on to score a hattrick, admittedly it was a reserve team game or something... but still, he managed to find the net 3 times, more than most of our A team strikers have!

think that was in the Essex senior cup game we lost 5-3 i think team was made up of u/19s and Wood if my memory serves me correctly.

Well lets hope he scores loads of goals this season for Tamworth then ...lol
If Waldron scores regularly for Tamworth and regains his confidence - it is pretty demoralising in life to know that your boss does not rate you - it will be interesting to see if Kevin Maher recalls him, especially if our forwards continue to be non-prolific.

I would not be surprised if the Chairman is keeping an eye on how this pans out for Waldron at Tamworth.

Have a feeling that last 15 against Alty was his death knell, when he should have been bursting a vein to prove his worth. When fully fit, I think Bonne proved that.
Sitting in the stand at Braintree staring at your phone doesn't sound involved either.
KM and co wouldn't be blind to that and what he does in training.
You win some; you lose some.

I don’t think they firmly believed in him as they only gave him an 18 month deal.

But he has struggled with the step up. In particular he has struggled to stay fit. From memory he got a niggle at the start of pre-season, he returned and got injured around September time. He returned and got injured around November.

He really needed to hit the ground running in pre-season. He didn’t. Despite us playing almost entirely part-time opposition in pre-season (including a Sunday League Irish team) he failed to score a single goal.

The hope was presumably that he’d improve in a professional environment. He’d become stronger and faster; his touch would become crisper. That hasn’t happened. Stepping up to full-time football for the first time at his age (he was 28 in May) was always going to be difficult. But whilst Macauley Bonne struggled greatly at first he’s been showing signs of improvement. We can’t say the same about Waldron.

Anyway, I look forward to people now arguing that Josh Walker, Tom Hopper, Charley Kendall etc haven’t been given enough opportunity as they’ve all been given similar amount of playing time (or less).

Before the freedom of movement in football, clubs usually had to pay a transfer fee and were therefore more careful who they signed. Along with reserve teams playing regularly, a player had more chance of improvement when out of the first team or newly signed. Now it seems that players are recruited more readily without a proven track record or past their best.

Kev doesn’t rate him, never given a proper chance imo.
I see him as one of those laid back/languid looking in training etc, but if he can score regularly who cares! Goals count.
Good luck Danny, show them how what you can do.
