Breaking News Danny Waldron joins Tamworth on loan for rest of season

Can’t get a game for Tamworth. A really huge miss by the scouting department. That said, was laughable when some were criticising Maher for not starting him - blokes clearly just not up to it

I don't believe it was. I don't like to criticise players but, from what I've heard, it's his attitude to training that has been a problem.

Sad to say danny is a member of the dead wood brigade that we will part company in the summer .Along with 3or4 others that we need off the wage bill .To bring in better quality of players .

I don’t believe it’s an attitude problem as in a trouble maker or doesn’t work hard per se.

I used the example with Bim. He knew what he needed to work on, and asked senior pros and the management team to do extra. Bonne in particular gave him loads of additional time.

Danny didn’t do that. Whether he couldn’t be bothered, wasn’t aware of what was needed, or whatever his reason, I don’t know.

Bim is a perfect example to all young players, whether you are in the game or wanting to get into it. Danny wasn’t, but in his defence, not many are (in the game in general, not at Southend).

I still think this comes down to his age and lack of experience playing higher up. I was always sceptical of a 27 year old that was still playing at the level he was playing at. You feel that they are set in their ways, as they've been doing it for so long. Room for improvement is hard as everything is already embedded in their mindset and routine. The players they are playing against are semi-pro and are prone to leave spaces in the second half, as they are tired. Players simply don't get that time and space the higher up you go.

I always come back to Reid that was at Harlow many years ago, and had an amazing goal return and plenty of our fans questioned why we hadn't signed him. It was because he was entrenched in that level and the step up was always going to be too big. It's quite apparent this is the same with Danny.

As we said before, he came during the dark times and we thank him for that and he can also be proud that he was brave enough to give up his job and have a go. When he retires, he won't have that regret. We wish him well.
