Damien Scannel

That doesn't sound at all correct if he indeed has this buy-out clause in his contract for offers over £5000. If that is the case, I can't see clubs suddenly going in with £250,000 offers, they just aren't going to spend that kind of money with non-league clubs such as Eastleigh.

I agree can't see £250k being correct. £50k at most.

Thanks for the info and welcome Lord n Proud EFC, always to nice to hear from other fans.

Some questions for you,

Why when he was at Fisher Athletic, did he not go out on loan to Swansea City, Northampton Town, or Nottingham Forest, who all wanted him, before he eventually signed for Eastleigh?

Did Peter Taylor at Crystal Palace want to take him on trial/loan or did he/they want to sign him?

I believe he has had a trials with Watford and Millwall recently, did they make him an offer?

I gather that last week Nottingham Forrest wanted again to take him on trial after seeing him play, any truth in that? He was also being watched again by Leeds and Leyton Orient.

Is Sean Scannell the 17 year old that scored for Crystal Palace on Saturday Damien's younger brother?

All i know is

Been told that Fisher would not let him. They had 1 person putting in lots of money. They were full time. Then when the money man went he was able to go to Watford & Millwall.

Their was someone on our forum say he saw forest bloke at game. But heard no more.Their has been a lot more than them other 2 clubs sniffing.Including the team from 5hite Marys :guns:

Must admit i noticed that name when watching goals on sunday Don't know tho im afraid.
Hers a link to todays slant on the story our end

Looks like a strong lad.

Were this a What Happened Next? competition, my guess would be that he controls the ball with his jewels before throwing these two fellas into each other behind his back like two rag dolls.

I wondered what happened to Phil Fearon and Galaxy.

I remember him from watching Fisher a couple of seasons ago.

He certainly has talent but sometimes drifted out of games and could be frustrating, eg beating man several times rather than simple cross.

Sounds like he may have improved and has had a good season so far with Eastleigh...

Shame we did not sign him for 5k as according to the Daily Star his value has increased dramatically.

Southend and Nottingham Forest have both made of a bid of £250,000 for Blue Square South side Eastleigh's Damian Scannell. (Daily Star)

That's not right. If there is a 5k clause in his contract then no club will offer Eastleigh any more than 5k, no sell-on or other clauses either - Eastleigh HAVE to sell at that price if Scannell wants to make the move. He can talk to any and all clubs that offer Eastleigh the 5k and decide which one he wants to go to - and I expect our offer will be the lowest on the table!

They even said in the article posted today on the Daily Echo that they will allow him to talk to us now. Come on Tilly work your magic and convince the lad to join.

I think it will take the combined might of Paul Daniels, David Copperfield, a resurrected David Nixon and Ali Bongo to convince him to join us over Forest, Leeds and even Brighton.

I like how the Eastleigh people obviously think that Southend is not the right move and that he should hold out for Forest, Southampton etc. At least if he joined us he'd get a game and not have to put up with a perennial also ran as manager a la Calderwood.

That's my sniping done for the day.

I know what you saying, however Tilly has managed to get players here before that we thought we would no chance in getting.
The headline when Hammel chose us was "Tilson sold me Southend" or something along those lines.
