right I'm a little clearer. Savill's represent the Club, GL Hearn are working for the Council. It's all gone off to outside consultants. Honestly it will take an expert to look at the papers to give us ordinary fans an idea. Basically the club are saying the retail development won't have such a drastic effect on the High Street that they should give the Council £6 million. It should be less. Anyway, that's my lay person's view of the issue. Hopefully there's an expert out there. Given the dire state of the countries finances I think Ron's got a point.

Oh I'm, calm enough.

Just not happy with all the goings on...

Is it not worth a punt putting the club up for sale?

Or should I say politely requesting Ronald to do so?

We know it's not going to happen. So why worry. We're riding this wave with him whether we like it or not. We might crash, we know that. No one so far has made Ron an offer that he can't refuse and until someone does we stuck with him.

Due to previous delays the 6m was excluded from the councils budgeted income for 12/13
Had this not been deferred it would have very likely meant the Council would be in surplus at the end of March leading to cuts in the Central Govt contribution even greater then is anticipated.
By getting it deferred to March the council can exclude it from the 13/14 budget as it is not definate then get the money in early enough to be able to spend it fully
It was in the councils best interest to get this deferred and probably has little to do with the planning application, Ron or anything

I still believe the fan's should try and take over and then maybe we'd have more transparency on finances. Obviously it would need some outside investors to be involved to help but why not try?

Clearly Ron doesn't have the money he quoted and it's not going to get better. I can guarantee that in March they propose something and say come back in xxx Months.

having read the papers and the difference of views expessed by the consultants and the lateness of this correspondence (just over a week ago) the council had to defer for an officer's view IMHO.

The club could be given away to anyone who has 10m to pay the debts and 1m a year to sub the losses
Once some of the debt has been paid RM should have enough to start the stadium build and I am sure the lack of a large loss making company in his portfolio would not concern him and may well mean he will be able to charge the (now unrelated) club money
So 15m to just give away should just about maintain div 4 football for a few years until the money runs out again

Does anybody know of anyone who fits the bill

Nope.

Which is why it should be made public via every single media outlet possible. That the club is available.

I have just checked my balance, on the screen at my local ATM and, I am short by almost 15 million.

Therefore, unfortunately, I cannot help.

I will check again tomorrow, just in case, but don't hold your breath!

It isn't just about the 10 mill the club show as debt, what about the millions his other companies are in debt...10 mill would not even make a hole in it....He CANNOT sell up, he is in deeper than he can ever get out of unless some partner takes a share of FF and his so called Ron World. (which I for one can never see happening)..He wants us off RH asap so he can at least get some monies out of that development.

Sainsbury's may well build the 3 sided ground, but I can't for the life of me think where RM will get the monies to finish it...We don't need more shops in this town and we don't atm need another hotel/conference hall...I agree with an earlier poster, where is the income going to come from with no main stand?

It is a shame when Luggy is doing so well on the pitch that he has to put up with so much bollocks going on off it.

I don't blame the council for at least standing their ground here as for one they are answerable to the public., RM has made more moves on the original plan than a chess match and this could well end up being his last move.

... and so it drags on ...

Lets be honest, whats another 3 months after 20 years of is it/isn't it!!

The day i will believe it, is the day we starting seeing land being cleared and bricks and cement in hand!

I always thought the £6m being asked by the council was too much. The type of retail units (Food supermarket, DIY, Coffee Shop etc) at FF will not drive trade away from the high street in any significant numbers.

Lets face it the high street is doomed anyway due to:

a) Parking charges (which are controlled by the council) are too high and will always drive business to Lakeside etc
b) Lack of protection from weather will drive traffic to Lakeside, Bluewater etc
c) Business Rates (council controlled) and Rents are too high, again forcing the closure of many small business.
d) Internet sales which have significantly lower overheads are much more competitive.

If the council wants to support the high street they should look at A and C first, because £6m from SUFC isn't going to fix the problem.

This is a very good point. The £6million was agreed I believe back when the recession had not hit and when the club was in League One/Championship (I can't remember which). Had the agreement been made now, it would be nowhere near that much. It's frustrating to get another delay but this is a lot of money, we're talking about here, far more than what would be needed to sub the club for another three months.

I would think the club alone is worth the nominal 1p to any purchaser,, They would have to take on the clubs 10 mill debt let alone about 500k of trade debtors and still not own RH which is in itself borrowed to the hilt against by other RM companies. I can't see that as an option we would have even if RM decided to sell, which he won't and TBH can't as his whole life is engrossed in this mess and at stake.
