Getting a jab is proving problematic so maybe someone could help.

Been trying to book up a jab somewhere closer than Rayleigh since sat but eventually gave up at thought I may as well just get it done. So decide on a time and date and the go to book a 2nd jab ... which isn't possible unless I want to go to Kent; as it won't let me book one at the rayleigh place. Absolute mental.

Book the first one at Rayleigh, the second one in Kent - then after first jab, cancel the Kent jab and keep checking for a closer site, appointments are added to the system all the time. Also, as mentioned in earlier post, keep an eye on local facebook groups for same day walk-ins.

I had my first one at runnymede (close to me) my second next month I could only book at the time is Cliffs pavillion
When I asked about changing? was told if you have a slot to keep it until maybe nearer the time! I was told the booking system has problems which I knew as apparently I missed my first one that I didn't know I'd booked?‍♂️

I don't have the time or inclination to be booking/cancelling/re booking things like this. It shouldn't be this much faff. I'm gunna rock up at the cliffs this week when at work and try my luck! I don't go on Facebook so cannae do that. SZ is one of the only sites I tend to visit!

I didn't know they were still doing mass vaccinations at the Cliffs. That's probably your best bet then, if they have the stock, they're not going to turn you away.

I hope it goes well for you.

Kent, that's crazy. Have you tried ringing up the medical centre in Leigh? I think Tink said she's jabing at that location.
My 2nd one is due there next Weds ( 12 weeks ). If i haven't been contacted by Fri, i'll go down there, only (100yds from home ), as they will be closed next Mon ( Bank Hol ) & the following day, as they always close on the 1st Tues of the month.

I think Tinks would be better to answer this one.
Doesn't surprise me.
A lot of these things are done "as the crow flies" and forget about the ruddy great stretch of water in between Essex and Kent!

Canada are allowing 12-15 year olds to have the jab without parents consent. They get a ice cream as a reward. If North Korea had done this 2 years ago the world would have condemned it but now its all acceptable.

Surely that's in direct contradiction of consent laws? All for people making a choice with informed consent (for kids usually includes consideration from parents) but that's shocking if true. Have you got any news sources?

Wow, quite surprising to see. I do wonder if that would pass off in the UK however. Maybe it's my legal background that rings alarm bells with this. Not seen much outrage in the news so assuming people are quite comfortable with kids making big decisions?

Im comfortable with it. Its not a big decision to get yourself vaccinated.

Have popped into the cliffs to do some digging. Basically they don't stock any of the moderna jab until next week and because of that, they arent allowing any under 40s yet. However that'll change soon online so basically keep an eye. She said if it doesn't allow you to do so in the next 7-10 days, pop back in and they will squeeze as in at the end of the day as will take your details.

Fine to allow your own children to decide to have an injection, who's long term effects aren’t completely understood at this stage. But that doesn't give you the right to remove other parents choice in my opinion.

If as parents you don’t trust your kids to make the right choices then what can I say

Let’s row back from the growing politicisation of a legitimate discussion topic - vaccine for kids - please. I think we all know your perspectives @Napster and @rigsby so perhaps we can move on now.

I think from my perspective I would say that parents should be present as a back-stop to assist their children in decision making.

They might even still come to a consensus that the vaccine is the correct thing for them.

That has been the default legal approach in the UK for a while in respect of these things. My parents made my decision for my last vaccine at 14, I didn't know or care much so at least they took the consideration for me. We want children to make the right decisions for the right reasons rather than some carrot on a stick.

IMO you're still a child in the eyes of the law until you start getting past the age of 16 (where the lines begin to blur) and should be treated as such so hopefully they maintain that precedent over here.

Just providing you with an alternative perspective and why some people would find that unusual/concerning. I understand that maybe as a parent yourself (if you are) you'd have confidence in your kids and that's also credible.
