Nearly two months after infection and Allan Saint-Maximin and Jamaal Lascelles still haven't returned to playing football.

This is two elite athletes who have been laid up from post-viral syndrome/long COVID.

Kinda feel this story should be bigger news. Not sure many of us fancy spending months off work in this economic climate, especially if self-employed or the breadwinner for a household.

It does hit you, you have good and bad days but can't seem to shift the bloody thing.

That's a frightening number if true, it certainly beats the national figure which is 1 in 50. I'm not surprised if true, this thing hangs around for months, I said in another post, I've been feeling rough on and off for months now.
The figures are based on test statistics taken in Basildon and Brentwood, and it appears a lot of those tested had no symptoms of the virus. Seems we are a hotbed of the new strain at the moment.

It's not great is it, the problem is, it effects everyone differently which makes it so deadly to some.

People not abiding by rules. Putting local businesses over the edge and locals out of work.

Thought i would share you this. As you probably know i work for two local breweries.
We are/were limping along, waiting for pubs to open, so we can brew more lovely beer and supply.
In the genuine hope we can get through this awful covid 19.

However we were supplying some pubs in London example Bexley and quite a few locally with with cask beer. This was being sold in sealed take away container's. All legit.

Some other's i understand were not selling as they should in sealed contaniers. Some people locally were buying them and drinking outside in the street or near where they bought them.
Bozo has now stopped takeaways from pubs or breweries. Due to this. !!!!

Sorry but you idiots, this could well put lots of pubs/Brewery's to go under, and more on the local unemployment register.
I know this is fairly minor compared to our hero's in the N.H.S.
However if one person read's this and can see what stupid selfish behaviour can do it will be worth it. Sorry rant over. !!

I don't think it's a rant at all and for what it's worth I agree, people should follow the rules and guidlines.

On the whole I think people have been pretty good, it's just that odd 10 - 15% who are moronic.

I was speaking to a woman at work and her sister got it back in April and says she still hasn’t fully recovered.

And it's a good suggestion that I've heard many times over, you'd just need to sacrifice another high risk group at this current time to be able to do it with the current stock level of the vaccine. Numbers suggest there are around 500,000 full time teachers as of Oct 2019 (can't seem to find the latest numbers) and we have given the vaccine to 1.3 million so far. Hopefully from Feb onwards when we start receiving larger batches of the vaccine they can think of doing this along with emergency services.

As I understand it,, HMG's latest policy is to vaccinate everyone in the most vulnerable four categories by mid-Feb.That's at the rate of 2m.doses a week.Good luck with that.

Well we can only hope, they're really beginning to ramp up now that more stocks of the vaccine are coming in as the weeks pass. If they could get anything close to the top three / four tiers done by around that time then good on 'em.

Chemists have been given the green light as from next week and mass vaccination sites will be set up at big venues and football grounds. It's a big task but do-able.

It's only the first shot though which makes sense to me, give everyone some sort of protection straight away and quickly as possible.

Rather than crass comparisons with blitz death figures, followed by false apologies. How about the flu spike 3 years ago when in January alone 42,000 people died.

Do you have a source for this?

Some figures provided by the ONS here if you fancy having a read:

And some BBC reporting at the time:

I may have missed it, did the NHS get a pay rise, I know other public sectors didn't.
If so not enough for the danger they are in nowadays
Basildon Hospital is on its knees now, few staff, excess cases, not enough beds
So whatever they got or get it not enough, to make us safe and play warriors on the key boards when they have nothing better to do ( Not aimed at quote poster I hasten to add )
