I actually have a little sympathy for Boris here. He is damned if he doesn’t and he damned if he does.
He is totally reliant on his advisers here and trying to find the balance.

I also think some people need to sit up and think about their own behaviours too as I have seen people first hand flout it and have been placed in situation where because of peoples ignorance and behaviour they have placed me in the position whereby I have needed to withdraw from front line work and traipse off for testing

Surely need to have a military presence around this time to keep all those not taking this seriously in line

Not quite shoot on site, was thinking more of batons as a threat.

The best for of defence is a strong offence though. Batons - whilst an undoubtedly cunning deterrent - may not be enough.

Meet in the middle? Muskets affixed with bayonets?

Wearing a mask might help - not, as I saw in Basildon - walking, spinning it round on a finger!

To really control people you need something far more sinister. Men in black leather trench coats and fedora hats works. If I walked to the One shop up the road and a 70's Mercedes limousine followed me all the way, without question I would stand 2meters apart at the till.

So here we go again by the looks of it.

Fully expect it to be for a longer period this time, let's just hope that they use the time wisely to come up with a reasonable exit strategy rathen than the wasted months last time around. Is it too much to ask for a cross-party concensus on this rather than poltical point scoring (politics alert!)?

Also i'm hoping there will still be the opportunities for people to go out and do leisure activites, even if that is within households or individually. I for one have found my fishing trips a real way of escaping from the madness for a day while sat at my club lake without anyone witihn 200 yards of me all day. How is that not deemed safe?

Some people seriously need to have a good hard look at themselves, so many times I go into a shop and someone walks in with no face mask. OK, it's not nice but at the same time, not difficult to put one on.

Boris (my understanding) will be issuing another National lockdown today starting from Monday, I'm not sure where football will stand.

This thing isn't going away anytime soon, people just need to be sensible otherwise it won't.

My mental health is pretty mixed, I've been made redundant and I haven't been able to go to the scans with my pregnant wife. If I don't find something soon my daughter will be born to an unemployed dad. That's to say nothing of how much my daughter will miss out in terms of learning to socialise.
I know very well that these lockdowns, restrictions etc. are having terrible impacts on people. My mum broke her leg just after christmas and hasn't been able to get physio to recover.

But this virus is killing people and causing them all sorts of longer term health problems. But exactly is the alternative?
From what I can see those who are sceptical of the restrictions seem to want to ignore it. I'm sorry, I don't see that as viable.

We are facing our Blitz. Yet those who so often call for Blitz Spirit and invoke the second world war are often those who whinge and whine rather than coming together and living what they preach.

I don't know what the answer is, until we know otherwise this government's is the only game in town.

That still has not been peer reviewed and there is no conclusive evidence at all with it. No one knows

It's mainly the younger people who quite frankly couldn't give a toss. OK, the virus is unlikely to have a major impact on them, it's who they pass it on too and so on, it just keeps going round and round. We also know now that people can get it a second time.

Something really has to give, like you, I don't have the answer, other than people need to be more responsible for there own actions.

And the lockdown won’t make it go away any earlier either. It may never go away. Need to learn to live with it.
