Coronavirus (Non-Politics)

I can understand OBL's POV, and Pubey's explaination.
At what point does someone dying, with Covid, with being morbidly obese and the associated health issues, get spelled out plainly for the full cocktail that has shortened the life?
As with smokers dying of (lung) cancer, or heart attack, what is "written" up may be only part of the process.

Surely that's the ones who didn't have the vaccine? I didn't and got flu over Christmas last year.
The flu vaccine isn't anywhere near 100% effective. People can get the vaccine and still get flu. That's why the vaccine is so important, because you don't just directly benefit from it (if you have the vaccine you're less likely to get flu), but you benefit from the herd immunity it provides if many people have had the vaccine (e.g. if you haven't had the vaccine for whatever reason, you're less likely to catch the flu from other people).

Everyone should get a flu jab, even if you're fit and healthy.

Certainly will this year.

On another issue, I think the standard of media journalism is really bad. Plenty of misleading information leaving the public confused. For example, BBC constantly referring to tests being available for all over 65's. That is nonsense, it is only for people of that age who have symptoms of covid-19.

The British media have not lead themselves in a good light throughout this crisis.

Yes, and the repeated, same every day questions!
The journos, and many senior politicos, who have lead the"end lockdown"calls may consider the consequence of their point scoring in the level of breaking of isolation and raised risks of new spreads.

Freeport in Braintree is a lot busier than the other week. Big queue outside B&Q!

So again another 700+ people have died in the UK and Matt Hancock starts todays press conference by saying the good news is that the NHS is going to re-start the fertility programme........am I the only one that was "gobsmacked" by his opening comment? What about the cancer programme and the numerous other important programmes. Not a very good PR excercise in my opinion !

Cancer programmes haven't stopped.

Cancer programmes haven't stopped.
There has not been an " operable" cancer operation in Southend for four weeks, other cancer care has taken place and most consultation and post OP procedures have been via the phone.
It would not be accurate to suggest there has not been serious and urgent cancer care delays.

B&Q being open makes no sense to me. With the current guidelines nobody should be going to B&Q atm.
What happens if there is a domestic emergency or you have a break in or something and need to make some temporary arrangements? Plenty of reasons why you might need essential DIY supplies

I don't think DIY stores had to close for lockdown and some construction has been allowed all along. As things get opened up over the next weeks and months there is going to be a lot of division of opinion. Hopefully people will try and see all points of view and a bit of compassion and understanding of different peoples circumstances. Navigating a way out of this is going to be a thankless task.

Nothing wrong with that, but the click and collect system was working for essential supplies. Opening their stores opens them up for people to make unessential journeys to buy unessential items.

These are the stats that are being juked

The official stats can be found on the government website. 30th April figures are 73,191 people tested that day and 739 official new deaths. Other data for those that want it:
