If I’ve heard the CMO correctly then we can kiss goodbye to finishing the football season and likely next season to.
Social distancing until a vaccine or drugs to control and that don’t come quickly.
F*** it! I’m going to learn a language, French or Spanish?

You are 100 per cent correct, until a vaccine and/or drug is in use then at best all social gatherings will have very limited numbers. Shopping centres will have to count people in and out, sports venues, theatres and cinemas will have greatly reduced capacity. The only way I can see SUFC surviving is if there is an all ticket crowd limit of about 1500 spaced apart and the rest of the income via I follow or similar. If crowds of people are allowed to congregate then the virus will be rampant. How you can control numbers visiting a seafront for instance is impossible to say. The next 12 to 18 months could see a massive change to all our lives.

Wonder how the Airlines will cope, if these measures continue for the foreseeable future?. Add Gatwick/Heathrow check-ins, departure halls etc, queuing at Immigration at your destination, queues with social distancing will go back miles?.

It’s a massive concern and for myself and my father who are both in the aviation industry it’s a huge worry. I think the days of cheap flights are well and truly gone. People who have houses in different countries and just hop on a cheap flight won’t be able too (unless minted).

EasyJet talking of keeping the middle seats in the row empty, that won’t be financially viable having aircraft with 1/3 of the seats empty. Which will push the prices up.

Will people still want to fly with the risk of the virus still hanging around. Business individuals who do a lot of flying won’t be doing as much if any. During this companies have found other ways of communicating and getting work done.

I left the RAF thinking the grass would be greener and now I’m ****ting myself. I’m really worried for my job and the aviation industry.

It certainly is a massive concern for your industry in particular but also for pretty much every other business in the country.

There is no way these current restrcitions will be in place for the rest of the year, or further if the vaccine is required. The impact on all our lives by this will far outweigh the damage done by the virus.

Most likely will be Social Distancing restrictions of some sort on large gatherings in confined spaces (pubs, restaurants, cinemas, FOOTBALL STADIUMS! etc) but other restrictions in external places (playing sport, parks etc) must be lifted.

I can't really see how any of the businesses in the hospitality sector can survice this. Even if the restricitons are lifted I can't see many people warming to the idea of packing in buildings alongside other folk.

Dark times ahead ?

For sure there are major areas of society and socialising which will have changed for decade or more.
Football WILL have to adjust, limited away travel, removal of seats, restricted gates?
Holidays? more staycations? less airmiles which will be twice the price?
Radical reshaping of NHS, Royal Commission to be formed and report recommendations?
Much of the rest is straying too far into politics so best left.

On a lighter note
But hopefully there will be a recognition of who/what are occupations of value beyond profit.

Agree completely. Life as we knew it up to a few weeks ago has gone, and i think a new way of life will emerge out of this. Examples are City jobs, where thousands of us commute to, are suddenly becoming increasingly effective and efficient remotely. So far this is saving people 3-4 hours travelling time and thousands of pounds in train fares. There was no appetite for this in many firms even 5 weeks ago, and it is working brilliantly in many cases. How many people will want to start commuting again after this?

The NHS has been much applauded over the last few weeks, rightly so for the dedication of the front line. But, it needs radical reforms as well. Public Health England have known for years about the likelihood of a pandemic abd have clearly done very little to plan and prepare for it. NHS England has also added the red tape, creating barriers instead of enabling change - too many chiefs! This has let the side down massively, so as a result the government has been opened up to all the criticism for lack of ppe, testing etc. The virus tracing and tracking was abandoned as unworkable within a few days, and much of the wider testing capacity has been delayed because of PHE red tape, and not wanting to relinquish control so blocked other parties gettong involved. The army offered to step in and were told to butt out. Interestingly, the army were hugely involved in setting up the temporary hospitals. They are now open, but cant accept many patients because there are no staff to man them... meanwhile, normal nhs services are at a standstill, so best delay that heart attack for a few months!

Then there are the egotistical celebrity types, who are suddenly in the same boat as the rest of us, and who are no longer able to promote themselves. Not missed any of that.

The leisure, hospitality and travel industries, as well as high streets were already under pressure and will be vastly different. I agree that cheap overseas flights will be a thing of the past, and i think the whole football pyramid will crash and burn if there arent some massive changes, mainly in the premiership. Money will have to be distributed differently, and i expect many more behind closed doors games to be televised which from what i have seen are normally soulless affairs. Unfortunately, i also think that lots of clubs will either disappear or drop into oblivion, and I cant see any of us attending Roots Hall until at least 2021.

I think that there will be more appreciation of the people who have been in the firing line during the last few weeks , the supermarket staff, care workers, and other front line public workers. There are also the hidden front line, such as the factory staff, delivery drivers, and banking staff who are keeping things going. Not seen, but still beavering away behind the scenes.

I hope that the country mobilises around creating a self sustaining society post pandemic and post brexit. With the national spirit of togetherness this mess has created, we have a huge opportunity to nake Britain great again. We cant afford to sit on our backsides beyond this, otherwise we risk selling out to China.

2 years time, everything will be back to the way it was before @ms brush. With humans, it's short term memory and Covid19, lockdown and all the other ****e we're doing now will be a distant memory.

If the aviation industry collapses, then equally our taxi business well. Airport transfers - or rather, the quantity of them - are where Kev earns the money

Depends where you're going on your hols I suppose. If you studied French at school then its probably easier to pick up again now.If not I'd say Spanish was easier to learn.

I feel for you guys. Even when restrictions are lifted and people can fly I think there will be a massive downturn from the usual business they get. Firstly a lot of people who have been financially affected by this crisis will be cutting back on non essentials like holidays. Secondly (and this is the bracket I fall into), people will be wary of jumping on a plane where the air is recirculated and catching the virus. I always seem to pick up a cold or something after flying I just wouldn't risk it.

Hope you and Kev find a way through this

there is so much uncertainty understandably at the moment and things are being announced every day.
Hang on in there.

Yep, pretty much every industry bar a few are in a similar boat. The concern with the aviation and holiday industry is that it will be one of the last to recover.

I’ve actively started to look at other options and prep just incase the worst happens.

Thanks mate, our own holiday in June hasn't yet been cancelled but we're considering postponing it to next year, and, as I said to Kev, if we're doing that, how many others will too?

Plus, with every country doing their own thing pretty much, who is going to trust other country's handling of the situation in the next 6 months.

He was doing warehouse work for a pharmaceutical company, but that's dried up and he's not worked this week. Back to re-applying for other things with fingers crossed something might turn up.

Yeah this it the key point, IMO.

As I’ve mentioned over the years, I love Las Vegas, and visit semi-regulary (9 times in 12 years). I keep up to date with the latest goings-on over there, and no more so, than right now.

I had been mentally planning my next trip for later this year, however, I’ll be giving it a miss for a while.

I have absolutely no faith or trust, in the place being safe.

That old saying ‘avoid it like the plague’, has never been more apt, than right now.
