Can someone confirm where the park and ride car park is please?

Is it on Boxted Road and is it actually a shuttle bus or walking type?

Costs?

I put up loads of parking info further up the thread Smiffy but to answer your query re the park and ride. It is a park and ride for most areas of central Colchester but for the stadium it's park and walk about 10-15 minutes max it is straight off the A12. Cost for park and ride is £3 per adult but for football parking only it is £3 per car. http://www.essexhighways.org/Transp...s/Park-and-Ride/Colchester-Park-and-Ride.aspx

It's at the same junction as the stadium, when you leave the A12 you just turn left at the roundabout instead of right towards the stadium and it's right there. easily walkable back to the stadium. I believe the cost is £2.50 per person but I seem to have seen somewhere on this thread that they do a £3 per car deal for football games/events. Don't know about the capacity but from what I've glimpsed from using the junction it looks a fair size, not far off 800-1000 cars I would estimate.

Just double checked on the website £3 per car and 1000 spaces.

I'm sure Colchester and Proud or NEWS did full chapter and verse earlier in the thread.

Bring back Layer Road. They had The Barside, and we had the other 3 stands. And we could swap ends by going across the pitch at half time. Happy days.

Agree, Layer Road was so ***** it was brilliant.

A main stand that leaked and creaked, the romantically named 'Terrace 1' and 'Terrace 2' either side of it, the two beatniks who always stood soaking up the away fans abuse at the front of Terrace 1 (or was it Terrace 2) and were probably buried there as they never moved, planks to stand and bounce on at the away end, toilets that flooded with ****, a lego stand at the other end that made our own lego stand look like a superstructure, and with the crowning glory being that tent they put up in the corner next to the away end which had seats for about 30.

The place had charm. this Weston Homes thing is a souless wind tunnel.

Loved Layer Road, some of the championship clubs changed in their coach rather than use the away changing rooms, which were always much worse than the home ones!(They were not great either!)

It's funny because my friend and I said the same about Barnet's ground, that terrace with the leaky roof just made the trip more enjoyable somehow. As for that gazebo stand for seating, priceless. The new Hive looks soulless too.

I wonder what happened to it? Maybe it's been put back in its camping bag and stashed in a corner of their new place. If so perhaps Ron could see if he could borrow it when he visits on Boxing Day (spirit of Christmas and all that), it would then solve the 'fourth side' problem at Fantasy Farm.

I think it was sold to a non league club as was the entire stand opposite the Layer Road end.

For those nostalgic about not fit for purpose football grounds, here are a few pics:

According to their Twitter account this afternoon, they still have around 1,500 tickets to sell, without stating the obvious, it would have made more sense to have given us another block, as they would have been snapped up long ago. So frustrating !! :darkcloud:

If you read the Trust Liaison Meeting Minutes you will see that, under AOB, the possibility of more coming our way has not been ruled out.

I didnt read that, but it's the best news I've heard today (other than Sonic's new job of course).

Trouble is that Colchester are now selling Block E4 for home fans, therefore we would never be able to have the whole of Block E3 as that would not allow for any segregation.
I suppose they could give us half of Block E3 but I think that is very unlikely.

That's true I'm afraid - looking at online there are less than 850 tickets left availabe for home fans to buy (Albeit E3 is not currently availabe) - E4 was only realised for sales this week and is selling fairly quickly - I honestly can't see any chance of you being given extra tickets unless they decide to put the first couple of rows of the North Stand on sale (which aren't currently sold to allow for netting etc - accounts for about another 260 seats) but it's presumed that's on stewarding/police advice so doubt that will change.

I'm estimating that capacity for this will be about 9500 due to segregation/netting etc and attendance will be somewhere very close to that.

The best advice I could offer is if some of your fans lobby your end to sell the additional seats in the North Stand by offering additional stewards or something??
