Firstly - they'll check if you are on the database as previous purchaser (and potentially check how recent/purchase history etc) - if you are then you'll be sold tickets - very easy to code that into on-line sales as rules based. I suspect that at some point (if not already) for new purchasers trying to buy tickets (or maybe more than 1 ticket for example) in certain parts of the ground it won't be processed and you'll have to phone up.

It can't be fool-proof without investing a lot of time on each transaction over the phone but I would imagine that they may choose to do that if patterns of new people emerge trying to buy for this match.

Some will no doubt get tickets, but I seriously doubt that many of your fans will even attempt it - you've got 2000+ tickets and aside from a couple of posters on here suggesting they will try and purchase I'm not sure it will be that significant volumes (despite some protestations that there will be "hundreds" in the home ends)

A few dotted about will not be an issue, the club will just be wanting to avoid large pockets of away fans in home areas. When it comes to it, if away fans are sitting next to home ones and just indudge in the normal matchday chat you tend to have with those sitting next to you, even if the home fans realise they are away supporters nothing will happen and that's how it should be.

At the end of the day, there shouldnt be an issue with fans mixing. Sure i want to beat Colchester especially at your place, but i dont want to cause any trouble or go looking for a ruck. I sat in the Southampton end a few years back when we played them at the Dell, sure it wasnt a local derby, but we were respectful of where we were sat and in the end we had a good laugh with the locals, helped that they won and scored after about 30 secs mind. If people want to go and look for trouble then good luck to them and good luck regarding the consequences they face. I am going with my son who is 11, its his first derby, he knows the importance of the game. Lets hope its a good game, we win and its trouble free.

Just had an email from the club confirming that if tickets do go on general sale tomorrow you'll be able to purchase them in person, by phone, or online.

Although the website states extra tickets on sale from 11am today for season ticket holders etc I have just logged on and got 2!! Go go go!!

Spot on SJ I took our two to games like this when they were that age, now they are 32 and 34 I rely on them to look after me! I like mixing with away fans either at the ground or in the pub etc, it is good to talk to other clubs fans and hear what they say about your club/ground it is always biased mind you!!

Thats strange had email confirmation that I have them too!! What's it saying when you log on??
There's a big red box that says you can't buy tickets unless you've bought a half season card. I was just trying my luck anyway, I'll be happy to be in the scrum tomorrow morning...

Ahh I'm a season ticket holder which is why I guess it has let me! If you're not the system obviously knows!! Good luck tomorrow, think there may be a queue!!

Cheers. I leave home at 6am for work, so I guess I'll do that as usual but instead of heading to work I'll be standing in the ****ing cold outside the ticket office for 3 hours. And not for the first time. Still, all good fun...

I assume this thread has gone quiet because everyone is on the phone?

I've now been on hold for 50mins. Ramshackle.

Indeed, had a great time up at Sheffield on Saturday, mixed with the locals, talked about the game, their season our season etc never a hint of trouble. They were impressed, not only with the numbers that traveled but also the overall behaviour of our fans.

Anyone know the rough waiting time on calling in at the mo? Guessing it's crazy around lunch.

Just rang in and they seem to have stopped saying what position you are in the queue? Really helpful that... :dim:

I was on for an hour and then the answerphone machine kicked in. Left my name and number and also emailed them.

Did get the "your position in the queue is first" about 45mins in. But only once.

So....if we mingle in and look like the locals we'll be ok ? Straw vest, knotted handkerchief hat, long shorts and wellington boots it is, then :winking:

Ha ha- very good!?

it's strange really how football fans come up with something to identify rivals/other clubs - our lot always refer to you as Pikeys etc (proximty to large population of our travelling community and of course some random bloke that scored a couple of goals for you once?!) and I know you lot referrence farmers but we use that against the inbred 6 fingered tractor-driving numpties from suffolk, we don't actually have that many farms/sheep around here!

But in a serious response to your point - I would actively encourage you to wear exactly what you've suggested and firmly promise that you won't be noticed by anyone at all! :liar:

so it's up at the crack of dawn tomorrow for the drive from Enfield to Southend. Would be great to know how many tickets you can purchase. Anyway see you in the queue tomorrow chaps n chapessess How many s' and when to stop!)

I wonder whether it's SUFC not wanting to take too many and getting stuck with them ? I wonder if they'll request another 500 odd after this lot have been sold etc ? Not that we can take the chance !
