When Leeds came to town they knew the demand would be huge so they gave them all of the East stand (All season ticket holders were moved) to keep them segregated from the home fans, it didn't really work because they filled that and several hundred more were in the home areas and there was some trouble. If your club had asked for 3000 seats some time ago maybe something like that could have been done for you folks, but the catch is the club would want some form of gaurantee that in the event of any unsold seats they would be paid for by Southend United. Some Col U fans are already saying if they spot any away fans in the home areas they will report them to stewards and ask for them to be kicked out.

The Col U fans whinging and saying they will request our fans (in home areas) be kicked out - should ask themselves why the seats were wanted, purchased and paid for by Southend United fans. The answer is quite clearly because our support demands it and Col U support is too tiny to fill a small stadium for a derby game on Boxing Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe both Preston and Leeds were allocated over 3,000 tickets in the past. Whilst a 25% allocation is fair and reasonable, it does beg the question of how many Col Ewe fans will turn up on the day?

To me it's a case of cutting your nose off to spite your face.....bums in seats = money.

As I mentioned earlier, it would've been a lovely pressie from Santa if Colchester decided to "do a Morecambe;" as the demand is there and visible for all to see.

If they decide to stick to their guns, already Shrimpers are planning to get tickets scattered around the ground which could cause stewards/police all sorts of bother....:headbang:

To be fair I expect a lot more home fans will turn up than did for Leeds and Preston. I don't think 2,300 is an unreasonable allocation, would we really sell a lot more than that?

The P&R won't be operational on Boxing Day but it was confirmed a while ago that the car park would be open for people going to the football. Alternatively, you can park at the train station for a couple of quid and get the shuttle bus from across the road. People make out that it's impossible to get to their ground but it really isn't. Only problem being there are no pubs near the ground so if you're looking for a drink beforehand, the station would be your best bet as there are a few pubs nearby but doubt they'll be letting us in. Worth a try nonetheless.

So is this Park and Ride (or Park and Walk) car park near the services on the opposite side of the A12 to the ground? If so does the road its on have a name, how many cars can it hold and how long is the walk to the ground?

Is there any criteria for buying tickets in the home areas, proof of previous purchase etc?

Not that I know of mate, they may impose restrictions if they think there will be trouble but it is probably a bit late in the day to be trying that. We have sold a lot of tickets compared to normal but Colchester fans seem pretty laid back about this now and not really rushing out to buy any more. I should think there are around 2500 tickets left to sell even if your 2500 odd sell out.

Yes it is very near the services and signposted from the A12, the cost is £3.00 per adult for park and ride but for football parking it is £3.00 per car (so fill it up!) There are 1000 spaces over there and 700 at the club (But that area sold out weeks ago at £6.00 per car) There is parking at Rapid Electronics still only £2.00 per car but over a miles walk to the ground straight up Axial Way and United Way (This is where I normally park) (post code CO4 5JS) There is also a small Industrial Estate that opens for parking at £6.00 per car on Axial way about half a mile from the ground, there must be a couple of hundred spots there too. (Post code CO4 5WY) The walk from the park and ride to the ground is about 10-15 minutes and is the most popular spot now for home fans other than the club car park. http://www.essexhighways.org/Transp...s/Park-and-Ride/Colchester-Park-and-Ride.aspx

There is no whinging on either the official or unofficial message boards that I've seen but regardless if someone does something that makes them identifiable as an away fan then they've only got themselves to blame - would happen at any other club for a derby (including at Southend) and to make out it's something unique to Col U is stupid - it's not as though you have sold out at your place for every Derby game against us either!

Back in the days I grew up watching big matches, people first thought at identifying away fans in home areas wouldn't have been to ask a steward to remove the "offenders" it would have been "self-policed" quite effectively! We live in a different world now (maybe for the better, maybe not)

know what you mean Kevin, I would never get a fan kicked out (Unless being violent) because I have stood on home terraces in away games and still supported my club loudly! Provided both sets of fans can behave and just support their team and have a bit of banter I see no problem with that myself.

With the way the stands are configerated now the absolute max we could offer to away fans is circa 2900 but that would be with a very small "nuetral" area of covering over a small section of one block - clearly that wouldn't be deemed sufficient for a derby match.

As for the clubs decision - most of our fans wouldn't want you to be given more than the North Stand for this match even if would leave a 2 or 3 blocks empty, personally I'm suprised they've given an extra allocation to you at all given the home sales but there we go. Reckon you've been given E1 and part of E2, E3 will be for segregation and potentially they will steward it so that E4 can be for home fans with access via E5.

Word of warning on purchasing tickets in home ends - the club have in the past (primarily against Norwich) identified tickets purchased in advance for non Col-U fans and cancelled them in advance of the match (or refused entry/ejected fans on the day) - I can see both sides to be honest - an odd couple of fans sitting in with home fans not causing any issue when either team score shouldn't be a problem for anyone - but idiots turning up with colours or then reacting to the game in provocotive manner can cause problems. Entirely up to you but if you try, stick to the West Stand (tends to be more corporate and more of the older fans), it's more expensive that the South but if you did get a ticket in there and played up in any way there would be a strong chance of issues.

But how have they managed that. I work in Chelmsford for example, i am a season ticket holder so have my seats already. But how would they know who i support if i buy on line or over the phone using a Chelmsford postcode. I know Southend fans in the Chelmsford area, im sure you have 1 or 2

GCHQ have a special room set up for this kind of thing.

I guess they will just limit what they can to reduce any likelihood of trouble, we are in the South stand on Boxing day and will have a Southend fan sitting with us. If we win he will suffer taunts all day and given the traditional cup of tea in a Col U mug, if you win he will be walking home!

That cant happen surely, we have been told any known Southend fans in the home ends will have their tickets cancelled and be ejected from the ground....talk about double standards! lol:winking:

Firstly - they'll check if you are on the database as previous purchaser (and potentially check how recent/purchase history etc) - if you are then you'll be sold tickets - very easy to code that into on-line sales as rules based. I suspect that at some point (if not already) for new purchasers trying to buy tickets (or maybe more than 1 ticket for example) in certain parts of the ground it won't be processed and you'll have to phone up.

It can't be fool-proof without investing a lot of time on each transaction over the phone but I would imagine that they may choose to do that if patterns of new people emerge trying to buy for this match.

Some will no doubt get tickets, but I seriously doubt that many of your fans will even attempt it - you've got 2000+ tickets and aside from a couple of posters on here suggesting they will try and purchase I'm not sure it will be that significant volumes (despite some protestations that there will be "hundreds" in the home ends)
