Ticket News Charlton (H) - FA Cup Round 1 - Sat 2nd Nov - Now on sale

What I find interesting is that when the West stand is “busy” in certain matches, when I glance towards the back, there seems to be a lot of folks standing behind the last row of seating🤔
Overspill ? or crap view seats 💺??

They will but at 15:00hrs on Saturday they will be at RH.

If it was streamed then there would a significant drop on the attendance because plenty have a snide £40/50 per year connection. Some post the most negative comments on here about the club whilst clearly watching at home on their fire stick
Do you think that the fact they can already do that with every single league game has significantly affected attendances? (genuine non-sarky question). Personally I can't afford tickets or to travel to Roots Hall very often (Few hundred miles round trip and I'm poor) and if the games weren't streamed I wouldn't be buying a ticket instead to any more games than I already do. I pay £25 a month to NLTV to watch us when I can't get there.

I think it's just people who prefer to stand. I would like the option and the quicker safe standing/terracing comes to our ground the better.

Being able to watch matches on TV has an effect on attendances. Although by today's standards our gates are excellent in the 1950's and 60's an attendance of 10000 would have been below average. Yet the population of S E Essex was a lot less in those days and people on average were poorer than today. Of course, there was very little football on TV in that time. Football is at least if not more popular nowadays including more interest from women. The difference now is that people are fans of various clubs but never watch them live. Sadly this will always be the case due to saturation TV coverage which takes no account of the real fans who go to games and are messed about by changes to kick off times just to suit armchair followers. So frustrating.

I'm aware that it has had an overall effect on attendances up and down the country but it could be argued that in changing times the lack of ability to watch their chosen team in a pub/living room as opposed to the big teams the broadcasters have chosen to show is why so many clubs have lost their fanbase to the top tier.

It was posited that streaming the FA Cup game vs Charlton would significantly lower attendance but I don't personally think that's the case and actually in the grand scheme of things increases the number of eyes on Southend due to the number of people that couldn't attend (for a multitude of reasons) that otherwise wouldn't be able to watch Southend play often or maybe not at all. Off the field stuff such as ownership and better performance on the field mean we'll never definitively know if the streaming did affect attendance but our attendances are up 3 years in a row and the streaming of the NL hasn't seemed to hurt that growth.

Did we find out what happened with the H&S visit re opening up more of the North Stand? Are Charlton still restricted to 800 which is obviously well below the 15%

A Charlton work colleague and season ticket holder just told me all away tickets are sold and he couldn't get one.

Interestingly they did a 'priority loyalty points' sales, with general sale from tomorrow:

Phase 1: 620 Loyalty Points with Valley Gold 28/10/2024 at 11:00am
Phase 2: 620 Loyalty Points 28/10/2024 at 2:00pm
Phase 3: 600 Loyalty Points with Valley Gold 28/10/2024 at 4:00pm
Phase 4: 600 Loyalty Points 29/10/2024 at 11:00am
Phase 5: 580 Loyalty Points or Valley Gold 29/10/2024 at 2:00pm
Phase 6: 550 Loyalty Points 29/10/2024 at 4:00pm
Phase 7: 460 Loyalty Points 30/10/2024 at 11:00am
Phase 8: 230 Loyalty Points 30/10/2024 at 2:00pm
Phase 9: 100 Loyalty Points 30/10/2024 at 4:00pm
Phase 10: General Sale 31/10/2024 at 11:00am

Confirmation that Charlton as expected quickly sold out the initial 815. The new batch of 1,080 is now on-sale to them. Hopefully they will sell that out as well. General sale tomorrow. Will be nice to have a proper away turnout for the first time in years.

That’s about what it’s been for the last few seasons. Around 8,000 home fans inc hospitality. Then 800 odd max away. Just under 9,000 if all sold.
Figure looks much better now a extra thousand is added to away, might get closer to 10k in for this?
And as all will be paying for this cup spinner the ££££ are most welcome.
How much goes to Charlton? 30% or less?
