All you angry people who want to boycott matches and don't like the 'big boys' of the premiership treading all over us, are no doubt cancelling your sky TV as we speak.......No, thought not.
That's not really the point though is it?!
I don't mind watching Premiership football, I enjoy it. I don't enjoy having Premiership Under 21/B teams/academies teams being put into a competition for lower league sides.
The LDV/JPT or whatever it's called has rewarded us as a club with two trips to the Millenium Stadium and one to Wembley. It's awarded other clubs the same, it's the best chance for a lot of lower league clubs to play at Wembley.
As I said before, I won't be attending any games against these sides, even if that means missing out on a trip to Wembley. I'd rather watch us against bottom of league two, then against an Under 21 side. Farcical.
Mick. Sorry to say but you are missing the point. Regardless of whether we voted for it or not most supporters are clearly against it. The club, no the league should explain what we are all missing. You really are missing the point. The Football League clubs voted for this.
Sorry but where are the bits that matter 'compelling reasons' what are they? He hasn't answered why we are doing this. Until he does he has lost my respect. The posts on this thread show the anger amongst supporters. We deserve to know what was discussed and what the advantages are for us. I am not happy with accepting there were compelling reasons' and that will do.Bullet points from S.K's e-mail for the bits that matter;
- B teams would need 90% approval to get in the league
- Long debate on EFL, reasons compelling
- One year trial, see how it goes
- Need to try new things, wouldn't vote for B teams in the League however.
I think people need to remember that this is a PILOT, a one year trial and whilst we may not be in agreement with it in principle, it, like many changes to football in recent times, is worth at least trying. Whether we go along to games or not, is, of course, down to individuals.

apologies, not shooting the messages, but am annoyed with the message.
I know you feel that you have to support the club but....
Why is it worth trying . Tell me what we have to gain? Do we know how the prize money will work vs the smaller crowds. And even if we gain that isn't necessarily reason to say it's a good idea. Money isn't everything ,

Even if the u21 clubs all get beaten in the first round it isn't the point. It's wrong, there is nothing more to add. Personally I hope that the various supporters clubs come up with some kind of joint action . I would be amazed if other clubs supporters don't feel the same as us. I think the atmosphere for these young boys is going to be very very toxic. Personally if we draw an under 21 team at home I will be attending and letting my feelings be known!
Yes, so it's not 'worth trying" until we understand what the benefits are.I am sure there will be a fuller explanation than the email response already alluded to on this thread in due course - let's not forget that SK has just returned from his charity bike ride.

What has not really been picked up are the potential changes which will be voted on next year which will have an impact on teams such as Southend.
"They also discussed the EFL's proposals to add a new division of 20 teams to the English pyramid - meaning that there would be 100 teams in a five-division structure, rather than the current set-up of 92 clubs across four tiers.
There are currently 24 teams in the Championship, League One and League Two, below the 20-club Premier League.
The final decision on those proposals will be taken in June 2017".
Interesting to learn what Southend's views are on this.

The Guardian said:• Sixteen academies set to join what was known as Johnstone’s Paint Trophy
Has anyone actually picked up on the fact that the article quoted by MK clearly indicates that Johnstone's will no longer be sponsoring the trophy? If they have been unable to find another sponsor, then that would be a clear reason to try and involve the 16 academy sides and to recoup some money by doing so.
I am absolutely sure that there is something at the root here that we clearly don't understand, which is why, despite my initial outrage I will look forward to hearing something actually from the club in response. I am at a meeting there on Monday so will press for a public explanation.
