Brexit negotiations thread

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-46789601

Meanwhile, in the real world, prominent remainers like Anna Soubry get called a Nazi because of her opinions by the rent a mob crowd on College Green these days. The level of political discourse since the advent of social media has hit an all time low.

Not condoning Soubry being called a 'Nazi' but people on the right like Farage, Rees-Mogg etc. have been facing this kind of intimidation for years, but now it's happened to Soubry and Owen Jones, suddenly people are calling for more police protection. The words 'taste' and 'medicine' come to mind. But yes, you're right about the level of political discourse in this country.

On the Brexit film, I actually thought it was pretty good. Was expecting it to be biased towards remain but found it quite balanced and I think it highlighted the key failures of the Remain campaign well. Also some very good acting performances in it.

If you credit these "Financial and powerful elite" with such power, which I am not disputing, then why do you think that hurting them will lead to you being more prosperous? Surely those money people with the power and influence will protect themselves and tighten wages and spending etc and they can do it saying "we told you this would happen if you left the EU". I mean leaving the EU means we are no longer subject to the workers rights and benefits of EU countries and it is feasible that people like us down the chain could suffer for it.

I don't actually disagree with your opinion on big business but short of revolution I don't think we will change it and I truly believe revolution would be catastrophic. I would be interested to know just how far you would go for your beliefs and whether you truly believe that exiting the EU will have any meaningful effect on the financial elites control of the world?

In answer. No I don't. They will continue to do what they've been doing for decades if allowed. My decision to vote leave was based on a whole myriad of different reasons with just one of those being us not being beholden to or a part of their federalist superstate plans and maybe, just maybe, being the catalyst that brings down the whole sorry edifice.

I really do think some have grossly overstated our perceived position and influence within this great and all powerful 'club' The real power lays with the German and French governments, their countries banks and the ECP and IMF and as a group have only one single thing on their mind and God help anyone or anything that even remotely stands in their way, until Brexit happened that is.

Sticks and stones etc but I don't recall a public outcry when George Galloway was actually brutally assaulted by a thug wearing Israeli army gear.

In response to both Bielzibubz and Ricky Otto. It occured to me a while back that whichever way you voted, this applies in France as well as the UK, the only differences were nuances of policies. I wondered how long it would be before people started to object to the sham. I supposed it worked satisfactorily whilst everyone could see some advance in their purchase power and improvement in their standard of living...............then came the crash. The worrying thing is that the losers in the pack are being whipped up by dark forces with an agenda, resulting in an ugly atmosphere where scapegoats are sought, whether it be, immigrants, muslims, jews etc.
I do see links between all recent events, the referendum result, Trumps election and the rise of the extreme right. Whilst I respect Bielzibubz views concerning the EU and its institutions I do believe there are others in the shadows with darker motives in their mind and for them, Brexit is only part of a larger game.
When people like Trump is inciting people to rail against the establishment, is it because the establishment is not his establishment? Could it be that we are witnessing a struggle for power at the very top, being promoted by the alt-right?
The problem is that when these forces are released, it's very difficult to put the genie back in the bottle. It's all very well to create catchy slogans such as 'Make America Great Again' and 'Take Back Control'.............and even win elections with them. What happens when these words turn out to be bankrupt? When the poorer Americans, who turned out to vote for Trump find out that America is great again................but just for the super rich? Or when people find out that the promised land of Brexit falls rather shorter of their expectations and their pockets feel rather emptier? I don't know where we are going, or why but the journey is starting to frighten me.

A vote has passed in Parliament that effectively stops a No Deal Brexit.

As May's deal is as unpopular with Leavers as it is Remainers I wonder if a lot of Leave voters will now want to write this Parliament off and call for a General Election or back a fresh referendum on the hope of Leave winning by a bigger margin.

Turned out to be a lot of fake news. He never said "Britain first" or anything like it. Didn't stop those 'dark forces' lying in the MSM.....As im sure your well aware

And you know that how? Were you there or did you just read it in Breibart news?

And here's a picture of her murderer Thomas Mair actively campaigning for the far right group.

Was it also fake news with the nazi stuff they found in his house as well? He shouted 'Britain First' in court for God's sake. How can you possibly defend him in any way?

Looks like more zone fake news

He didn't say anything. Not even in his police interview.

There is some mobile phone footage of his arrest, which is interesting.

She was murdered.
The murderer was a far right extremist.
It was just over a week before the referendum.

Everything that I wrote is fact.

You've said this before and clammed up when questioned about it. So evidence please. The judge when sentencing specifically mentions him shouting patriot repeatedly as heard by multiple witnesses, so I'll go by what the judge and the media have said.

https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/sentencing-remarks-r-v-thomas-mair.pdf - quoted below

You affect to be a patriot. The words you uttered repeatedly when you killed her give lip service to that concept. Those sentiments can be legitimate and can have resonance but in your mouth, allied to your actions, they are tainted and made toxic. It is clear from your internet and other researches that your inspiration is not love of country or your fellow citizens, it is an admiration for Nazism, and similar anti democratic white supremacist creeds where democracy and political persuasion are supplanted by violence towards and intimidation of opponents and those who, in whatever ways, are thought to be different and, for that reason, open to persecution

Waits for a Tommy Robinson video to be posted as 'evidence'
