Brexit negotiations thread

Once again you speak for everybody when you can't possibly know what everybody voted for. Listening to LBC the other day a member of the brexit planning committee said they worked out 28 different brexit outcomes, so there was not one clear message given to all people. One leaflet may have said what you have posted but what about Farage saying we could get a deal like Norway or Switzerland. Daniel Hannan MEP vote leave "Absolutely nobody is talking about threatening our place in the Single Market". Owen Paterson MP, Vote Leave backer "Only a madman would actually leave the Market". So that proves that membership of the single market was being touted by remainers pre referendum, how many did that swing the vote for? The truth is neither of us know for sure. You will keep crying for the vote to be final and I will keep crying for a peoples vote. We both see our own options as the true democratic way forward and I don't think we will change each others mind. I do hope brexit won't be the disaster I think it will be as I'm 90% sure it will happen. There is not much further we can go with discussion as the people I think are well qualified experts you think are part of a global conspiracy. I'm happy to agree to disagree and find common ground in both knowing Southend united are the greatest club the world has ever seen

So what about £100b trade deficit...… Any thoughts?

That's what I mean. We end up with no deal then our trade deficit becomes £0.00 with the EU.

That means an extra £100b to spend in the British economy.

We can still spend the other £200b around the rest of the world providing they want to deal with us and not the EU. In fact the knock on effects to the EU could be disastrous for them..

That means there would be a mad scramble of gold rush proportions to do business with or even set up businesses in the UK.

Politicians sulk, stamp their feet and would rather see millions suffer to prove their point or keep themselves in power.......Business never does. it goes where the money is

Oh god help us.

I was just lightening the mood in response to the previous post. My deep and meaningful thoughts ended there, on this occasion

I don't think lifting the mood with something this serious it at all possible. People are very angry that it's come to this and worreid to what the future holds. Even a People's Vote where a re-run Remain may win wouldn't dampen the anger. It'd just come from the other side.

Cameron will go down in history as the worst PM this country has ever had, creating this **** storm and then walking away.

Chamberlin surely.

Whatever else history may or may not say about these terrible, tremendous years, we can be sure that Neville Chamberlain acted with perfect sincerity according to his lights and strove to the utmost of his capacity and authority, which were powerful, to save the world from the awful, devastating struggle in which we are now engaged. This alone will stand him in good stead as far as what is called the verdict of history is concerned.

Not my words, but Churchill's.

I think Chamberlain is harshly judged.

Tony Benn knew exactly how to vote in 1975.

Tony Benn, great speaker (and man) that he was, was never capable of changing his mind (except finally to embrace full blown socialism after serving in Wilson's and Callaghan's centre-left governments). As Keynes so memorably said:-" When the facts change,I change my mind. What do you do ,sir?"
