Brawn GP

1 race and a quali in, do the Brawns look like one-shot-wonders? I'm thinking no. Q1 they almost took the qualifying lap record.

Well thats what I thought, would it just be a one race wonder. What is going on with the diffuser three argument? Because if Ferrari, Renault and the other moaners win their case Brawn could have their points stripped which would be a complete and utter joke!

"Joke".

Seems to be the phrase that best describes the season - and it's not even 2 races old yet!

The on-track stuff's great, absolutely loving it, but, as usual, the Ferrari International Assistance are trying to screw it up.

That was so funny today seeing Massa not even make it into Q2 what a plumb!

**** me, no way can they restart this! 4 cars span off just getting back to the start, and that wasn't anywhere near race pace.

crazy ending, that monsoon was mental! good win for Button after a poor start

Do you reckon this whole 'diffuser' issue is something which the press have cooked up to spice up the possibility of Brawn GP losing their points, or a genuine threat to their season?

It'd be gutting to see the FIA strip them of all this hard work now?

Great racing from Heidfeld. One stop when others had 3 or 4? And Glock was unlucky not to get 2nd. I thought he'd be in P1 to be honest when he rejoined as he pitted at the same time as Button but with the right tyres?

And Hamilton got demoted from 5th to 7th it'd appear? There's a surprise...

No chance at all, as this time it's not only Ferrari that have been caught out by the creativity of the Brawn, Toyota and Williams designers. Had it only been them it would have been a different story, as was shown a few years ago when they were caught out by the width of groove in their tyres.

All the teams have their own legal teams, to look at interpretations of the laws governing car design, and they wouldn't have run them if the probability was that the FIA would ban them. The other teams appeals are simply a hopeful punt and nothing else. It's more a meeting to confirm the legality of the diffusers rather than any genuine appeal.

To be fair to the Toyota mechanics during Martin Brundle's pit lane walk, they themselves looked embarrassed at trying to block his view, but they were simply doing the job asked of them by their so-called superiors. All the other teams will have the designs by now and will be working furiously to modify their own cars, probably in time for the opening European race.

Glock was my man of the day, He made a great shout going for the intermediate tyres. In Brazil his punt on tyre choices ended up turning into some sort of conspiracy theory that he slowed down on purpose to let Hamilton through. Today it paid off and eventually led to the other teams following his lead in changing tyres. You only had to look at Kimis attempt to drive wet tyres on a dry track to see the sort of effect having the wrong tyres has on lap times.

Good shout for Glock. The other man of the day was Heidfeld who managed 3rd place with only one pit stop.
One of the highlights for me was Alonso going into the gravel and managing to get through it to the grass and drive along the grass to get back on the track. In sharp contrast to Glock everything Massa tried went wrong.
Hamilton v Webber - great battle between a kers and non kers cars. Should be an exciting season.

Hamilton/Webber was a great battle, the McLaren looked quick on the straight but had no grip on the corners so Webber kept re-taking him. If they get the downforce sorted out for the European leg of the season then McLaren could be back in the hunt.

Great race for what we had! I don't like this half points rule though... What a load of **** Button won the race but gets only 5 points instead of 10. I really really think that is a shocking rule. Glock was brilliant today, but it wasn't just his decision to go onto intermediates surely that was down to their team principal to decide that. But what a cracking shout, funny how another gamble didn't work out when Raikkonen put full wets on.

Button and Brawn could lose all their points today after a decision over the "rear defuser" used on the car. This "sport" is an absolute joke.

Bit harsh MK, its such a technical sport the designers are always looking to gain an advantage and this can often be done by viewing the rules in a different manner. Can't blame them for trying, although Toyota took a spare rear wing to Australia so they must have thought there was a grey area.

So three weeks after the result they can change it AGAIN? Perhaps if they applied that rule to football we might be in the playoffs yet?

Each driver should have to race in identical cars, only then will the true ability of the drivers be shown rather than the technology in use. Plonk any F1 driver into Brawn's car and they'll win the race - last year Button won 3 points in total fer gods sake!

Then you have things like A1 GP, which is a great spectacle, but no one wants to go and watch it.
At the end of the day the Teams contribution is paramount to the success of the driver. F1 will argue that they are pushing the technology forward. If they all had the same car they wouldn’t need to.

What a joke if they lose all their points. Its only since escalated since Ferrari have joined in with the appeal because their car is ***** and they aren't performing well. This year would be a complete and utter shambles if they take Brawn, Toyota and Williams points away. What with everything else going on it seems like its more about politics than it is racing.
